The Department of Oncology, in the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, invite applications for a Tenure-Track (contingent) appointment at the Associate Professor level, for the Division of Medical Physics.

Qualifications include a PhD in Medical Physics, or a related field, certification with the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine or equivalent, a minimum of seven years as a medical physicist, and a proven track record of publications, student mentorship and success in obtaining external funding. Previous academic leadership experience is an asset, as well as engagement in national or international organizations. Applicants must show evidence of successful teaching and/or graduate supervision, and evidence of established academic engagement in professional and other communities.

The successful candidate would join the Division of Medical Physics within the Department of Oncology at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. The Radiation Medicine Program at Arthur Child includes 10 linear accelerators, 2 MR-Linacs, orthovoltage unit, CT-Sim, CT/PET Sim, and two MR-Simulators, one of which is integrated into a unique MR-guided brachytherapy suite with two HDR afterloaders. A fully equipped machine shop and lab space is also available. The successful individual would join a Medical Physics department of approximately 50 individuals, including 24 Medical Physicists, Medical Physics Assistants, electronics service specialists, machinists, computer programmer, medical physics residents and graduate students. The Medical Physics Division supports graduate, certificate and residency programs that are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP) in a Radiation Oncology Specialization within the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Calgary.

The successful candidate will work with the Division Chief, Medical Physics, to support the division's mission of leveraging clinical excellence into research impact and leading and coordinating efforts to drive further clinical and research innovation in the program. Responsibilities will include serving as Program Director for the Graduate and Certificate Programs and will include teaching responsibilities within those programs. Co-ordination of faculty engagement with undergraduate education and other teaching activities will also be included. The successful individual will also be expected to play a key role in mentorship for the dynamic young faculty within the division in addition to research, teaching and administrative responsibilities, clinical contributions are expected (0.2 FTE).
