Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is accountable for all aspects of a designated manufacturing operation. The manager ensures proper coordination of long-term operation through planning and monitoring performance metrics. The position will drive improvement throughout the organization. The Senior Production Manager will lead focus on their designated business unit's continuous improvement to meet objectives with emphasis on safety, quality, delivery and total satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead, evaluate, and develop team to successfully achieve Safety, Shipped-Complete-on-Time (SCOT), Lean Transformation and other Key Performance Indicators to achieve financial, customer satisfaction, and employee relations objectives for their designated business unit.
  • Champion team utilize leadership and systematic problem-solving to accomplish objectives.
  • Exceed annual safety performance indicators measured by recordable injury rate, lost time incident rate, and 100% safety audit compliance.
  • Achieve 100% Delivery indicator in coordination with other Senior Production Managers in the plant.
  • Determine and exceed schedule attainment targets, work with embedded Production Control team to eliminate backorders, communicate with Inside Sales team to reduce expedites, and support the lean transformation process demonstrated by on-time achievement of GDP indicators (supporting SCOT and financial objectives).
  • Achieve delivery targets, achieve budgeted labor cost, and achieve variable cost targets. Exceed customer expectations by exceeding quality targets.
  • Work in conjunction with other business owners to develop long-term visions and strategy for the designated business unit as well as the overall plant and product lines.


Safety Responsibilities

Management personnel are responsible for their individual compliance to specified safety rules and ensuring that they are being followed within their areas of responsibilities. Management is responsible for day-to-day leadership and close observations of supervisors and employees under their direct supervision. Management personnel will be accountable for individual compliance, as well as for, ensuring safety rules and practices are developed and followed within their areas of responsibility. Management responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Make safety a part of daily discussions with employees.
  • Driving incident investigations and preventive actions.
  • Provide consistent leadership by following appropriate safety rules and procedures.
  • Recognize and facilitate the elimination of any unsafe acts or conditions within the facility.
  • Notify the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for representative or assessments and involvement when new operations, procedures, chemicals or equipment are introduced into the facility.
  • Report all near-misses, incidents, injuries, illnesses, including mobile equipment and property damage.
  • Responsible for driving accountability inherent to GSI policies and procedures.
  • Participate in safety audits and assessments and take corrective action when necessary.

Compensation
  • Expected annual pay for this role is $70,000-$115,000

Qualifications and Experience
  • Five to ten years of progressive leadership and management experience within a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience utilizing a "Lean Production System" as part of daily Management Standard Work.
  • Must be able to think and act both strategically as well as tactically.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills, including excellent interpersonal skills, and relationship-building across functions.


Supervisory Responsibility

Supervisory responsibility may vary by business unit and includes overseeing a group of Production Supervisors and their direct reports.

Work Environment

This job is operated in both a professional office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in the work environment. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme conditions including temperatures ranging from 40°F to 105°F.

Physical Demands

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or craw and frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands or arms. The employee must be able to stand for up to extended periods of time.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The employee must occasionally wear personal protective equipment (i.e. eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, sleeves, etc.)

Travel

This position requires minimal travel, no more than 10%. Most travel is within the local area and occasionally travel is overnight.
