3rd Class Power Engineer

Slave Lake, Alberta

Our Certified Power Engineers are our powerhouses. They are pros at maintaining the machinery and boilers that keep our mills running. They use their years of experience and training to bring innovative and safe solutions when challenges arise. If this sounds like a role you might be interested in, read on to find out more!

We're looking for a 3rd Class Power Engineer to join our Athabasca Oriented Strand Board (OSB) division, located in Slave Lake, Alberta. This state-of-the-art facility has the longest continuous press in North America, giving us the ability to manufacture a broad range of innovative forest products for customers around the world.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • 3rd Class Power Engineer Certification.
  • Extensive operating and maintenance experience.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to working safely.
  • Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Previous experience in a forest products environment is considered an asset.


In this role you will:

  • Work with a high-performance team dedicated to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fire systems, process safety equipment, and newly built thermal energy system.
  • Support the planning and execution of maintenance and regulatory efforts in the energy area.
  • Maintain records associated with compliance with environmental, ABSA and insurance standards.
  • Develop training systems and operating procedures and training our team of Power Engineer Operators.
  • Provide back-up support for the Chief Power Engineer when they are away.
