3D Printer Maintenance Manager

Seattle, WA | Reports to Plant Manager - Seattle | Site Scope

Quickparts is hiring a 3D Printer Maintenance Manager to lead, shape, and elevate our equipment maintenance operations at our Seattle facility. This is not a desk-only role. You will be deeply embedded in our operations - on the floor, diagnosing issues, leading technicians, and inside our systems - driving real change across our 3D printing equipment network.

You will own our maintenance strategy, personally lead implementation, and be the driving force behind world-class equipment reliability that supports our production, engineering, and quality goals.

• Lead and execute preventive maintenance strategy for all 3D printing equipment
• Drive hands-on troubleshooting and repair across the shop floor
• Build systems that reduce downtime and extend machine lifespan
• Serve as a visible leader on the floor, coaching and developing technicians
• Be the owner of equipment records, capital planning, and safety compliance

What You'll Do
  • Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance programs for all 3D printing equipment to reduce downtime and extend machine lifespan
  • Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, providing training, support, and performance evaluations
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues related to 3D printers promptly and effectively
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to optimize printer performance and integrate new technologies
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records, prepare reports on equipment status, and recommend capital investments for upgrades or replacements
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies related to equipment operation and maintenance
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies to ensure availability and cost efficiency
  • Stay current with emerging 3D printing technologies and industry best practices to recommend upgrades and process enhancements


What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance management, preferably with 3D printing or advanced manufacturing equipment
  • Strong knowledge of 3D printing technologies, including FDM, SLA, SLS, or similar additive manufacturing processes
  • Proven experience leading and managing technical teams in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electronic systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field preferred
  • Certification in 3D printing technology or additive manufacturing (e.g., SME Additive Manufacturing Certification) preferred
  • Experience with maintenance management software (CMMS) and inventory control systems preferred
  • Familiarity with CAD software and 3D printer firmware preferred
  • Knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and AS9100 preferred
  • Strong project management skills and experience implementing continuous improvement methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma preferred


Working Environment / Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, stoop, and bend for a minimum of 8 hours per day
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate common manufacturing machinery and hand tools
  • Must speak clearly using the English language to accurately convey information and be able to hear at normal speaking levels
  • Must be able to visually read the work instructions, gauges, and monitors required to complete daily tasks
  • Regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds and frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds


Safety Requirements
  • Required to observe all safety standards and rules
  • Required to report all injuries to supervisor and Human Resources within 24 hours
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn as required by the job
