Full Job Description
Salary Range: $155,713.30-$192,174.24/annually

Essential Duties

The duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to the job and are not intended to be an inclusive or exhaustive list.

As the School Principal, we see you as the educational leader and administrator of the school. You will report to the Assistant Superintendent of your cohort, be a part of the Leadership, Equity, Achievement, & Design (LEAD) team, and a district leader in closing the opportunity gap and promoting the achievement of all students. You will help to lead transformational work to deliver on the promises outlined in both Transform Learning. Transform Lives. as well as our long-term, city-wide North Star, Vision 2025.

The strongest candidates will have:

  • Knowledge of San Francisco's public schools/urban public schools and a passionate belief in SFUSD's commitment to instructional leadership as a lever toward delivering on the SFUSD Graduate Profile
  • Strong analytics and systems thinking necessary to interpret data to inform goals and strategy, as well as build infrastructure where none exists
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and roles within a complex organization
  • A proven record of effectively planning, organizing and using resources to take action and achieve goals
  • The ability to learn quickly and adapt as needed in a fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • A flexible, "can do" work ethic with a focus on identifying challenges and proactively working to find solutions while maintaining a bigger picture lens and focus on what can be delivered instead of what cannot be done
  • Excellent data analysis skills and experience synthesizing data to drive action steps
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with senior level district staff and colleagues
  • Effective written and verbal communication and the ability to clearly communicate complex, bureaucratic processes to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to define and implement effective HR business practices
  • Ability to work effectively in difficult situations that involve confidential and sensitive matters
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and GSuite (Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms)

~ Bilingual or immersion program leadership or implementation experience.

~ Knowledge of or experience implementing Response to Intervention and Instruction (RTI2), Restorative Justice/Practices model and protocols, and Balanced Literacy.

~ Strategic leadership and management experience in a K-12 urban public educational setting.

SFUSD offers a competitive base starting salary depending on the size and grade level of your school as determined by the collective bargaining unit.

**SFUSD will credit up to 10 years of verified service if you were a Principal or Assistant Principal in another school district.

Early Education and Elementary Principal (Less than 400 Students Enrolled) starting @ $155,713.30 base + SFUSD benefit contribution $10,363.54

Early Education and Elementary Principal (More than 400 Students Enrolled)- starting @ $159,809.74 + SFUSD benefit contribution $10,363.54

Middle and K-8 School Principal (Less than 500 Students Enrolled)- starting @ $165,447.42 + SFUSD benefit contribution $10,363.54

Middle and K-8 School Principal (More than 500 Students Enrolled)- starting @ $166,918.82 + SFUSD benefit contribution $10,363.54

High School Principal (Less than 750 Students Enrolled)- starting @ $169,100.75 + SFUSD benefit contribution $10,363.54

High School Principal (More than 750 Students Enrolled)- starting @ $173,685.63 + SFUSD benefit contribution $10,363.54
