Summary

Drive the logistics processes, tools and applications for the site/function. Advance subject matter expertise of the logistics processes, tools and application. Coach and mentor others on their strategic activities. The Logistics Manager is responsible for facilitating, mentoring and coordinating successful Logistics projects. This includes ensuring that both the technical and people aspects are taken into account, incorporating change management strategies. Manage resources to effectively help execute the site/function strategy deployment plans.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
  • Maintains responsibility for the management of site logistics including meeting customer commits, engagement in negotiations and agreement with suppliers, meeting quality and delivery requirements.
  • May manage the warehouse and material handling for all site business units, 24x7, while maintaining appropriate level of security. Includes receiving, count stations, AWS workstations and control room, AWS maintenance, and third party warehousing.
  • Responsible for the import logistics system team including carrier contract negotiation engagement with Global team and import customs clearance.
  • Manages relationships with external carriers, customs brokers and third party warehouses including quality, rate negotiation, performance and alternative providers.
  • Ensures compliance on all customs regulations and laws.
  • Assists with global issues related to trade compliance logistics. Works with other sites to identify and implement cost saving measures.
  • Manages case, pack, shipping operations and the HUB export process ensuring export customs compliance to all applicable regulations and laws.
  • Engaged in logistics/trade compliance tools needed by the site for analytical, cost calculations and compliance

  • Responsible for annual physical inventory (If owns warehouse)
  • Responsible for employee training, performance, measurement, development, motivation and recognition.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of global and local transportation services
  • Strong knowledge of the global business environment and customers' business.
  • Good understanding of IT concepts and integrated business applications.
  • Strong knowledge in all areas of import / export, regulatory and logistics management.
  • Good negotiation and problem resolution skills.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to effectively lead, manage, train and motivate a diverse group of employees.
  • Strong Logistics financial reporting ability and budgetary development
  • Working knowledge (if pertains) to Free Trade Agreements, HS Tariff, Duty/VAT, ITAR regulations, Sanctions and Embargoes


Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties of this position require continuous light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motion, standing, sitting in a confined work space,
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.


Typical Experience

  • 7 years or more in a related Logistics or Trade Compliance field


Typical Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics Management or related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience
