DonorsChoose is a nonprofit organization that allows individuals to donate directly to public school classroom projects. Teachers post their classroom project requests on the DonorsChoose website, and donors can choose the projects they want to support. DonorsChoose then purchases and ships the requested items directly to the school. The organization was founded in 2000 by Charles Best, a former public school teacher in the Bronx, and has since funded over 1.8 million classroom projects, benefiting over 51 million students.
