The Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA) is an independent federal agency that provides probation, parole, and pretrial services to individuals under the jurisdiction of the District of Columbia's Superior Court. CSOSA was established in 1997 by the National Capital Revitalization and Self-Government Improvement Act of 1997. The agency's mission is to enhance public safety, prevent crime, reduce recidivism, and support the fair administration of justice in close collaboration with the community. CSOSA is responsible for supervising approximately 16,000 offenders on any given day, including those on probation, parole, and supervised release. The agency also provides a range of services to support offenders' successful reentry into the community, including substance abuse treatment, mental health services, job training, and education.
