Time changes all things — for worse or better.
It’s an irrevocable progression.
Time is the currency of our transformation. Used wisely, you will improve your finances, health, relationships, career or any part of your life.
How are you using your limited and finite currency? “Time is what we want most and what we use worst” is my favorite quote of all time about time. William Penn said that.
The reality of life is that people use their currencies differently. Successful and efficient people have figured out how to invest their time better.
If you want a different outcome than what you are getting right now, figure out how to use your finite currency.
Better health means spending some of your currency exercising daily or choosing good habits that can improve your mind and body.
Sound finances mean leveraging both time and compound interest to put your money to work. Or better still, building capital when you are renting your time at the moment.
A great relationship means investing some of your time in experiences, hobbies, projects, events and activities that can improve the quality of your connection. It also means prioritising communication with those you love.
Time will always be free but it’s invaluable
“A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life.” — Charles Darwin
They say time is the great equalizer for everyone — we all have the same amount of it. Your success in life largely depends on how you plan to spend, invest or use time.
Time is precious — but how you use it says a lot about how you value it. Remember, you can’t store, speed, slow or reverse time. So making the most of it right now, in this moment, is your best shot at putting it to great use.
You can control how you spend it by defining what you want or need to make a good life. What do you expect from yourself in the next six months to put yourself in a better trajectory in life? Write those down and list the actions you can take to get close to that life.
Many people desire to do better but haven’t defined a better use of their time to get to where they want to be. As a result, they fall short of concrete actions.
The irony is that they are spending their currency on something, except those things are not delivering the results they want.
You can only change your life if you change what you do consistently. I want to improve my knowledge of personal investing.
So, I have invested in great books and subscribed to great newsletters that can help me accumulate better knowledge about investing.
Knowledge alone won’t help me if I don’t put it to good use. So to apply what I’m learning, I’ve opened investment accounts to leverage both time and compound growth to build wealth for the future.
You have 168 hours a week — are you spending or investing it?
The true currency of life is time, not money, and we’ve all got a limited stock of that. — Robert Harris
However you want to invest your currency, think about the long-term implications of your present actions. Your present life is the result of how you invested or spent your currency in the past.
Incredibly wealthy and ultra-successful people have access to the same currency you do, except they invest it differently.
How Richard Branson, Elon Musk, Phil Knight and Susan Wojcicki invest time is wildly different from how you spend your time. We all have different priorities, but we all want to be successful and happy.
If you feel you don’t control how you spend your time right now, find pockets of time in your day or week to invest in yourself. Learn how to better invest your time for a much better outcome tomorrow.
Time is almost everything. How much is your time worth? How can you do differently for a much better life? How can you invest time in making all areas of your life better?
Don’t wish you have more time — use what you have wisely
Carl Sandburg was right. “Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.”
When you binge tv shows on Netflix, the company wins, not you. Many companies are profiting from our time. They make money from our attention. Are you reaping good results from your time investments?
Whatever you are exchanging a part of your life for, make sure is worth it. Put a price on your time. Choose your behaviours, events, activities, habits, routine and experiences wisely.
Invest good time in 20 percent of your actions that deliver 80 percent of the results you want. And when you find something that can make your life 10x better, invest 100% of your time and energy into it. That investment of your time will translate into a better life.
