If you never tire of eating avocados, listen up. There’s a new study that can fund all the avocado toasts, avocado salad, and guacamole you could want. Researchers from Loma Linda University, Penn State, Tufts University and the University of California, Los Angeles are recruiting people to get paid for eating avocados daily for science.
“The Habitual Diet and Avocado Trial will evaluate the effects of providing one avocado per day for recommended consumption over a 6 month period in a cohort of approximately 1000 free-living participants,” the study summary states.
How to get chosen to eat daily avocados for six months
The participants are being chosen to find out how healthy eating avocados are for us. Avocados have the highest fat content of any fruit, but have been deemed a “healthy fat” to lower cholesterol. Can an avocado a day keep the doctor away? One study found that a daily avocado habit could help people lower their blood pressure. This study seeks to find out if eating avocados can actually help people lose weight.
According to LLU’s website, in order to qualify for this you must:
1) Be 25 years of age or older
2) Be willing to either eat one avocado per day for six months or eat only two avocados per month for the same period
3) Measure at least 40 inches around the waist if you are a man
4) Measure at least 35 inches around the waist if you are a woman
Upon completion of the study, participants will get $300 each and the control group that missed out on all the avocados will receive 24 avocados as a gift.
