- Job seekers are 40% less likely to find a high paying hybrid job opportunity this year
- Remote jobs now make up about 9% of all six-figure career opportunities
- 89% of all high paying jobs are now fully in-person
New York, New York (April 16, 2024) – Jobseekers looking for high paying hybrid and remote jobs will face more competition than ever as new research reveals those opportunities remain in freefall. Data from Ladders (theladders.com), the career site for jobs that pay $100,000 or more, revealed that in the first quarter of 2024, the percentage of jobs available as hybrid fell 40% from the last quarter of 2023. “The good news is that there are more high paying jobs overall. However, that salary comes with a trade off. Jobs with higher pay have higher expectations that you’ll show up in person,” said Ladders Director of Growth Marketing John Mullinix, who led the research team.
Remote work availability also took another hit. The percentage of jobs available remotely fell 33% between the last quarter of 2023 and the first quarter of 2024. That means just about 9% of all high paying jobs available are fully remote. Mullinix said, “It’s interesting to see that the freefall continues. While many jobseekers are hoping this trend levels out, we aren’t seeing that yet.”
Work Environment | Quarter over Quarter % Share Change |

Methodology
Data scientists analyzed over a half million job postings on Ladders from January through March of 2024 to compile the Q2 2024 Ladders Quarterly High Paying Jobs Report. In addition to the remote work data, they also studied high paying job titles, career fields, and the companies with the most high paying jobs available.
The top ten highest paying job titles in Q2 of 2024
- Pharmacist
- Project Manager
- Software Engineer
- Senior Software Engineer
- Pharmacy Manager

The demand for pharmacists jumped about 13% in the first quarter. Mullinix said, “For those eyeing the pharmaceutical field, the horizon looks bright and I expect this is a role that will continue to grow. One reason is The Equitable Community Access to Pharmacist Services Act is set to enhance Medicare beneficiaries’ access to pharmacist services such as vaccinations, testing, and treatments.”
