Project Overview:

Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m3 full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.

Job Summary:

The Workface Planner Piping /Mechanical will be responsible to prepare Installation Work Packages (IWPs), Material Take-offs (MTO) for specific disciplines and will also support office construction activities, such constructability reviews, ensuring safety in design, providing construction's input to engineering and procurement teams that improves Total Installed Cost (TIC) on the projects. #LI-BH1

Major Responsibilities:

  • The Piping /Mechanical Workface Planner is responsible for developing Installation work packages (IWPs) for Piping /Mechanical installations in addition to being accountable for developing the detailed IWP release plan (90-Day schedule) with the Responsible superintendent, Responsible Field Engineer.
  • The Piping /Mechanical Workface Planner will review general installation priorities and check to assure the work accomplished meets the project requirements.
  • Reviews work scope, checking sequences, access, resources, equipment needs, pre-work, materials, and support services.
  • The Piping /Mechanical Workface Planner prepares the scope of the IWP in coordination with Piping /Mechanical field engineer to gain approval for the IWP.
  • Workface Planner will perform random checking of IWP assembled by the other Workface planner.
  • Understand work packaging philosophy, scope of installation, Work Breakdown Structure, and scoping of installation work packages.
  • Monitor project schedule and ensure performance and timely delivery of IWP; coordinate with Project Controls team, planners, other stakeholder of the project and ensure Piping /Mechanical IWPs are issued as per the project priorities
  • Monitor quality of IWP ensuring scoping and preparation of IWP is done right the first time
  • Attend progress meetings, maintain effective interface with site management team, client's organization ensuring IWP, and advance work packaging efforts are effectively delivered on the project.
  • Develops detailed IWPs as per the project guidelines and procedures, which includes, compiling PID and Piping /Mechanical installation drawings, installation details, model snapshots, vendor drawings, inspection test records or any other documents or Engineering deliverables associated with the IWPs.
  • Supports development of various other construction engineering deliverables like material takeoff of Piping /Mechanical bulk material and vendor supplied components and bulks; upload material take-off quantities and other attributes of Work Packages into the TEAMWorks database or project specific database.
  • Preparation of IWP constrains list and assist in resolution and closure of constraints or engineering issues.
  • Managing constraints.
  • Working with superintendents and field engineers to facilitate planning discussions for each area across all disciplines.
  • Supports the development of the project's readiness review program defining craft discipline-specific readiness review package content and readiness checklist.
  • Oversees readiness review for respective craft discipline and creation of readiness review packages for IWP's in accordance with project-defined readiness review program.
  • Developing and maintaining workface planning storyboards for key scopes.
  • Validating IWP sequencing aligns with construction execution, testing and startup priorities, and project earnings curves.
  • Attend progress meetings, maintain effective interface with site management team, client's organization ensuring IWPs and advance work packaging efforts are effectively delivered on the project.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in piping installation on large Oil & Gas projects / process industry projects.
  • Shall have an experience of preparation of piping Installation work packages and piping test work packages.
  • Proficient in reading drawings, interpret design, specifications and industry standards and codes.
  • Shall have a knowledge of ASME B31.3/B31.1
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Proficient MS Office applications.
  • Experience in piping and Equipment installation


Additional Information: Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
