What you will do

As a Workers' Compensation Senior Complex handler you will handle claims of a complex and serious nature in primarily, but not exclusively, New York jurisdictions. You will perform special claims investigations and handle matters requiring broad technical knowledge at an expert level. Operating on an independent basis with little supervision, you will negotiate and settle claims within assigned authority with a strong focus on overall claim resolution. In this role, you will represent Company interests in hearings, mediations and settlement conferences.

Key responsibilities
  • Handles multi-jurisdictional Workers' Compensation claims of a complex and serious nature; performs special claims investigations and handles matters requiring broad technical knowledge at an expert level.
  • Operates on an independent basis with little supervision; mitigates, negotiates and settles claims within assigned authority with a strong focus on overall claim resolution.
  • Assumes direct responsibility to represent Company interests in hearings, mediations and settlement conferences.
  • Required to have direct contact with Plaintiff and Defense attorneys concerning serious claim matters, the resolution of claims, and mitigation of complex legal issues.
  • Reviews court decisions, law and coverage interpretations and is required to have a broad knowledge and understanding of Workers' Compensation law and claim practices.
  • Submits periodic reports to and complies statistics for Claims Management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Conforms with all corporate policies and procedures.

What you need
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 7-10 years' experience handling workers' compensation claims preferred.
  • Experience with New York jurisdictions required; New Jersey and Pennsylvania experience preferred.

Licensing

Required to obtain your license(s) as an adjuster in the state(s) in which you are assigned to adjust claims. Licensing must be obtained within the timeframe set forth by the Company and must be maintained as needed throughout your employment.

Salary range: $85,000-$120,000

The final salary to be paid and position within the internal salary range is reflective of the employee's work experience, their geographic location, education, certification(s), scope and responsibilities in the role, and additional qualifications.
