wireless systems specialist in Klamath Falls! In this role, you will construct, install, maintain and repair diverse wireless two-way radio and microwave network systems for your assigned service area. You will support and coordinate the communication systems for customers including our agency, Oregon State Police, the Fire Marshall's office and more. This role is similar to radio technician, electronics technician, communications technician, radio service, tower technician, telecommunications specialist, broadcast technologist, radio frequency (RF) signalman, power systems control craftsman and land mobile radio service positions.

- Install, test, replace or repair a variety of cable types.
- Review customer's operational needs and requests.
- Identify, prepare and provide on-site training for customers.
- Manage and coordinate the installation of mobile radio equipment.
- Identify, diagnose, track and report problems and determine repair or replacement priorities.
- Contact multiple equipment vendors to obtain technical information and request repair or upgrades.
- Maintain systems and equipment to ensure peak operating condition.
- Operate a Sno-Cat or UTV (utility task vehicle) in inclement weather or rough conditions to gain access to remote locations to repair, install and provide emergency restoration of equipment or systems.
- Climb and work on towers and antenna structures up to 180 feet above ground and work with high voltages.
- Considerable region-wide or statewide travel in all weather conditions and time of day required.
- Move or lift heavy objects excess of 70 pounds following safety procedures.

ORAn associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field,
OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;
AND two (2) years of information systems experience in wireless systems (such as two-way radio, microwave, etc.).
ORA bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.
Special qualifications:Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
This position requires a maximum
60 minute response time to 2557 Altamont Drive, Klamath Falls, OR 97603 for emergency call-outs.
