Windows Server Administrator Job DescriptionJob TitleWindows Server AdministratorJob SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Windows Server Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructures. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring server availability, performance, security, and reliability while supporting Active Directory, virtualization, storage, backup, and enterprise infrastructure services.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, administer, and maintain Windows Server environments (Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, and later versions). Manage Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), Organizational Units (OUs), Group Policy Objects (GPOs), DNS, DHCP, and File Services. Configure and maintain user accounts, permissions, security groups, and access controls. Monitor server health, performance, and system availability. Perform Windows Server patching, upgrades, and security hardening. Manage virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V and VMware. Configure storage solutions, including RAID, SAN, NAS, and Storage Spaces. Administer backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions. Troubleshoot Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, and application issues. Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell. Support Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, IIS, and Remote Desktop Services (where applicable). Integrate and manage cloud services in Microsoft Azure and hybrid environments. Maintain server documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and configuration records. Collaborate with networking, cloud, security, and DevOps teams on infrastructure projects. Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and industry standards. Required SkillsStrong experience administering Windows Server operating systems. Expertise in Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and File Services. Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and Windows automation. Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) and hybrid identity management. Experience with Hyper-V and VMware virtualization. Understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, and DHCP. Familiarity with Microsoft IIS, Remote Desktop Services (RDS), and Windows Failover Clustering. Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions. Knowledge of security hardening, patch management, and vulnerability remediation. Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Microsoft System Center, SolarWinds, PRTG, or Zabbix. Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 3-7+ years of experience in Windows Server administration. Experience supporting enterprise or hybrid cloud environments. Knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure and Microsoft 365 administration. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and automation practices.
