The Machinery Division is looking for a self-motivated, well-organized individual to fill the position of
Weld Engineering Supervisor. The successful candidate will lead the Weld Engineering Department, which consists of a Weld Engineer, two (2) Weld Engineering Technicians, a Weld Engineering Apprentice, and a Co-op Student. The Weld Engineering Supervisor will provide technical leadership, coordinate departmental activities, and support the development and implementation of weld technology and processes.
This position reports directly to the VP, Process & Technology Department. What we're looking for- Oversee research and development and customer trials, including the preparation of technical reports, documentation, and project deliverables.
- Coach, mentor, and develop employees while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Assist the team with the setup and validation of resistance spot/projection and gas metal arc welding (GMAW) equipment.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the CenterLine Centre of Excellence.
- Quote and manufacture prototype assemblies.
- Facilitate the destructive testing of welded assemblies.
- Monitor facility wide welding quality.
- Develop welding procedures.
- Provide internal / customer weld training.
- Document quality control checks and welding procedures.
- Selection and maintenance of welding equipment.
- Act as a customer liaison and resource for troubleshooting welding related issues.
Interested applicants should be familiar with or possess a working knowledge of:- Resistance, arc, gas and laser welding processes.
- Applicable automotive welding specifications.
- Basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
- Standard welding equipment, tooling and setup apparatus.
- Weld inspection methods, acceptance criteria and qualification requirements.
- Industrial safety practices.
What you need to succeed- Post-secondary education in Materials, Mechanical, Electrical or Welding Engineering
- Successful completion of the Welding & Joining Specialization, preferred.
- Hands on experience with various welding processes, an asset.
- Experience with materials and metallurgy, an asset.
- Experience in a management or supervisory role, an asset

Wage Range: $85,000 - $120,000
