Job DescriptionBAE Systems is seeking a Technical Lead for Weapon System Integration efforts in support of our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system. The ideal candidate will be someone who can lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers toward meeting a set of objectives, demonstrate the behaviors to effectively communicate, coordinate, collaborate, and work in a visible and proactive manner across organizational boundaries to deliver positive results. This role is ideal for someone who can be a highly engaging, team-oriented, problem solving, and self-starting individual able to respond rapidly to a dynamic programmatic environment.
As the Technical Lead for Weapon System Integration, your responsibilities span engineering technical authority, leading engineering teams, and customer relationship management including:
Engineering Technical Authority
- Lead effort to define and improve the Weapon System Integration strategy and approach.
- Lead independent Integration activities based on subsystem interface integration methods and generate design maturity, compatibility, and interoperability reports.
- Lead and/or engage with Integration IPTs / Working Groups / Communities of Practice.
- Lead execution of Weapon System Integration technical work products.
- Ensure engineering outcomes are consistent with established engineering principles and practices and that customer and company technical, system, performance, and quality requirements are met.
- Oversee and endorse technical documentation, data, presentations, and white paper submissions to Lead Systems Engineer and chief engineers for approval, and then to the customers.
Leading Engineering Teams
- Assemble, lead, and manage high-performance team focused on delivering engineering products and developing innovative solutions to complex mission and business challenges.
- Mentor engineers, scientists, technologists, and analysts in the areas of Systems Engineering and Integration to foster technical rigor and consistency across the programs.
Customer Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain exceptional relationships with SES, GS-15, and GS-14 level US Navy customers/clients to solve technical problems and implement solutions of extremely high complexity.
- Support the customer in the execution of the Systems Integration process including Systems Engineering Technical Reviews.
Required Skills and Education- Education required: Bachelor of Science degree in Systems, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent STEM degree
- 8 years' experience supporting systems engineering on large DoD programs
- Experience with major weapon system development product lifecycle and technologies
- Experience with weapon system integration of models, software, and / or hardware
- Experience with technical presentations and customer-facing activities at the leadership level.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and influence multi-disciplinary teams in complex systems engineering across the product development lifecycle.
- Willing to travel approximately 10% of the time
- Must possess strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
- Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
- Familiar with digital engineering and model-based system engineering tools utilized for weapon system integration modeling and analysis
Preferred Skills and Education- MS Degree in Engineering or related STEM field
- Experience with technical presentations and customer-facing activities at the leadership level.
- Demonstrated success partnering with customers to understand critical challenges, shape customer requirements, develop innovative solutions, and manage execution of solutions through implementation
- Experience with various engineering tools / languages including PTC Windchill, IBM DOORS, 2D/3D CAD, SysML, and/or MATLAB Simulink
- 10 years' experience supporting systems engineering on large DoD programs
- Experience with strategic deterrence and/or missile defense systems and missions
- ASEP or CSEP certification
