This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced, motivatedWater Resources Project Managerwho thrives in a collaborative team environment. A flexible/hybrid work environment is applicable to this position, with the reporting office preferably being Fairfax, Richmond or Lexington, Virginia. What youll be challenged to do:

The successful candidate shall have a minimum of 8+ years of progressive design and task management experience in water resources and drainage on transportation and public projects. Experience should consist of overseeing and development of planning, design, and management of water resources-related design projects including storm water management, storm drain, erosion and sediment control, NPDES stormwater retrofits, Low Impact Development, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, stream restoration, county and state permitting, and construction phase services. The candidate should also possess good technical, leadership, managerial, and communication skills. The candidate should have existing client relationships and possess the ability to make decisions regarding project development. Additionally, they should be able to motivate junior design staff, working well in a team environment. The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day management and execution of assigned projects, lead and support for business development opportunities and financial management of projects.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Generate the scope, schedule and budget parameters for projects
  • Lead the execution of projects within the scope, schedule and budget.
  • Lead design staff including mentoring and training
  • Participate in interdisciplinary teams along aside other technical disciplines
  • Identify and resolve issues related to the performance of the project, including the generation of supplemental scope, schedule and budget requests
  • Develop and implement QA/ QC plans for projects.
  • Manage subconsultant performance
  • Performing business development activities, proposal development, and representing GFT at industry and professional events.
  • Hiring less-experienced engineers as needed.
What you will bring to our firm:
  • Candidate must possess broad knowledge and experience in transportation/design and strong technical skills in highway design for projects in Maryland. Experience within Virginia or the District of Columbia is a plus.
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Water Resources Engineering or related field of practice is required. Masters Degree is a plus.
  • Registered Virginia, Maryland and/or DC Professional Engineer (PE), or the ability to obtain one within 6 months required
  • 10+ yearsexperience in civil site design, with direct involvement in stormwater management design, storm drain design, erosion and sediment control, hydrologic modeling, permitting and BMP retrofits.
What we prefer you bring:
  • Experience in watershed water quality assessments, MS4 permitting and/or program development a plus
  • Prior experience leading engineering teams highly desired
  • Technical experience should include familiarity with roadway, bridge and traffic elements, with the ability to assist in the development of construction documents
  • Knowledge of and experience using MicroStation, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is required

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $145,000 - $165,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location. Featured Benefits: Hybrid (in-person and remote) work environment.
