Full Job Description
WRA is seeking an experienced Water Resources/Hydraulics Engineer to join our Raleigh office. The ideal candidate will have 11 to 15 years of relevant experience in water resources engineering, with a proven ability to deliver high-quality projects across both public and private sectors.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support the planning, analysis, design, and permitting of water resources for transportation projects, including:
    • Stormwater management
    • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
    • Floodplain studies
    • Erosion and sediment control
  • Prepare final engineering plans, reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Manage and mentor junior engineering staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Conduct field investigations and site assessments.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist with proposal development and business development initiatives.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program; Master's degree preferred
  • 11-15 years of progressive experience in water resources engineering
  • Active North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain within 6 months, if registered elsewhere)
  • NCDOT Hydraulics and Erosion Sediment Control design experience on Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and/or CMGC projects
  • Cross pipe analysis and design experience
  • Open and closed storm drainage design experience
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic stream analysis including scour analysis design experience for major (greater than 20') structures crossings for Reinforced Concrete Box Culvert (RCBC) and bridge opening determinations
  • Experience preparing and sealing Culvert Survey Reports (CSR) and Bridge Survey reports (BSR)
  • Stormwater Management design and plan experience
  • Permit Drawings experience
  • FEMA FIS Flood Study CLOMR/LOMR experience and experience coordinating submittals for reviews and final approval.
  • Proficiency in water resources modeling software such as HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), and similar.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and / or OpenRoads Designer (ORD) preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
