Full Job Description
Plans, directs, manage and supervises the operations and activities of the Water Resources section including but not limited to conservation, reclamation, water quality and natural systems restoration projects for both surface and groundwater leading to the improvement of water resources for the public. Mosquito control, aquatic plant, drainage, and water control management in line with public health, safety and recreation standards, and to the greatest degree practicable to prevent injury to non-target plants, animal life and property. The Water Resources Director will participate in all functional areas of the County.

This position shall be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in hydrology, aquatic environmental sciences, or water resource planning, and five years of experience in water resource planning or aquatic management. A master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the same fields may substitute for two years of the required experience. Any equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to facilitate the performance of essential job functions may be considered. The Water Resources Director must have the ability to master technical, conceptual, and interpersonal issues and be able to receive an assignment, carry it through to completion, and produce the required result. Familiarity with the water resources, mitigation bank/area wetlands, drainage, water control, mosquito and aquatic plant management of Lake County is highly desirable. Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License at time of appointment.
