HDR's Water Business Group (WBG) Potable Reuse Practice Leader (Practice Leader) provides enterprise-level leadership to shape HDR's strategy, positioning, and growth in potable reuse, including both indirect and direct potable reuse. This role strengthens One Water service capabilities across WBG and works across disciplines and geographies to advance HDR's leadership in the evolving potable reuse market. Role Summary The Practice Leader leads HDR's potable reuse market strategy, client engagement approach, and enterprise alignment, working in close partnership with the Drinking Water Market Sector Director, Wastewater Market Sector Director and Water Business Group leadership. The role defines where and how HDR competes in potable reuse and helps position the firm for sustained growth in key markets. The Practice Leader focuses on identifying priority clients and programs, shaping major pursuits, and strengthening executive-level relationships, while supporting consistent positioning and approach across regions. The role partners closely with regional and Business Class leaders, including advanced treatment and potable reuse delivery leaders, to align market strategy with delivery capabilities and execution approaches. The role maintains a national perspective, with emphasis on regions advancing potable reuse programs. In parallel, the Practice Leader supports development of a cohesive potable reuse practice and provides strategic engagement on key programs, serving in advisory or selective project leadership roles. Primary Responsibilities The WBG Potable Reuse Practice Leader is part of the Drinking Water Market Sector leadership team within the Water Business Group at HDR. This position drives a blend of market strategy, business development, and practice integration to deliver needed project solutions and advance HDR's potable reuse capabilities and growth. The primary responsibilities of this role include: - Develop and lead HDR's potable reuse market strategy, including identification of priority markets, clients, and programs, and alignment with Drinking Water Market Sector and Water Business Group growth objectives - Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, utilities, regulators, and partner organizations, serving as a trusted advisor to shape potable reuse program strategies, implementation approaches, and long-term partnerships - Guide positioning and capture strategies for major potable reuse pursuits, working collaboratively with Area, Regional, and Business Class leadership to strengthen HDR's competitive position and secure strategic opportunities - Provide strategic engagement on select potable reuse projects and programs, serving as a client-facing advisor, technical resource, or project manager on key initiatives, and supporting project definition, major decision points, and client strategy, while partnering with regional and Business Class leaders to support project execution and delivery - Represent HDR as a leader in potable reuse through active industry engagement, conference participation, research collaboration, and involvement in regulatory and policy discussions - Build and align a cohesive potable reuse practice across regions, Business Classes, and technical disciplines, identifying capability needs and working with leadership to advance staffing, tools, and innovation priorities - Establish and implement strategies for teaming, partnerships, and technology integration to enhance HDR's ability to deliver complex, programmatic potable reuse solutions - Support development of HDR's potable reuse talent pipeline by mentoring staff, aligning capabilities with future market needs, and contributing to recruitment, leadership development, and succession planning Preferred Qualifications - Master's or PhD degree in engineering, science, or a related discipline - 20 or more years of experience in potable reuse, advanced water treatment, or closely related fields - Recognized industry leadership in potable reuse or advanced treatment - Experience with regulatory frameworks for potable reuse across multiple U.S. regions - Track record of industry engagement through conferences, publications, or research collaboration - Experience supporting large, programmatic water or reuse initiatives Qualifications Required Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in an architecture, engineering, planning or a related field - A minimum of 10 years of industry experience - Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for architecture, engineering and or planning services - Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits - Experienced in overall staff development to include recruiting, career path and professional growth - Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector - Ability to work cooperatively with Area Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Director, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers and Area Managers - Demonstrated commitment to HDR values.
