Full Job Description
The Canada Waste Business Development Lead will support the development and implementation of Solid Waste business strategies in the region in collaboration with the Waste Business Development Director, the Solid Waste Planning Practice leadership and other technical Business Class Directors and Practice Leaders, business development and operational leadership. Reporting to the Waste Business Development Director, and in close coordination with your Area Sector Lead and Global Waste Leaders to advance the waste program. Initiate and support frequent and regular communication across the region on waste leadership, technical development, technologies, regulatory and policy compliance, implementation of strategic plans and delivery of key waste projects. This leader will support and collaborate across the region and business service lines to advance a variety of strategies intended to support and grow the waste market sector. In the role of Waste Business Development Lead, Canada, we'll count on you to: 30 Participate in Waste Sector strategic and tactical planning activities, and the development of strategic positioning with individual areas in the region. 30 Identify and assess regional marketplace opportunities, gage HDR prospects, and development of prioritized client targets. 30 Leverage industry contacts to expand relationships with HDR waste staff including planning staff and clients in key locations in the region. 30 Support, lead, and/or participate in direct project pursuits in the region including targeted client relationship development and premarketing, preparation of qualifications, proposals, interview content, scopes of work, project budgets and contract negotiations. 30 Coordinate with local, regional and national sustainability leadership in the preparation of project proposal support and budgets for planning projects. 30 Participate in local and regional project pursuits with waste planning activities including preparation of statement of qualifications, technical approaches, proposal and interviews. 30 When appropriate, perform quality control reviews of project deliverables within the region. 30 Collaborate with local and regional leadership to train and mentor planning personnel in the region. 30 Direct billable work on waste projects. 30 Participate on project teams in Project Manager role for Solid Waste Planning project work. 30 Participate in the interviewing and selection of waste staff in the region and other areas. Identify key talent in the waste market and assist with recruitment of identified talent including key staff retention. 30 Perform other duties as required to support the Sector and Solid Waste Planning Practice. 30 Leverage existing HDR resources to provide full cross sector and multi business class collaboration for targeted clients. Qualifications Required Qualifications 30 A minimum of 15 years relevant industry experience 30 Demonstrated "self-starter" with a history of completing projects with limited oversight 30 Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry's standard approach to procurement of professional services 30 Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others 30 Demonstrated ability to build a network of clients and industry partners 30 Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies 30 Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills 30 Excellent written and verbal communication skills 30 Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint 30 Ability and desire to travel and engage with others in-person 30 Demonstrated experience in growing programs in new or highly competitive markets 30 Demonstrated experience in winning high-value contracts in the A/E/C industry 30 Demonstrated experience in writing compelling content based on information from technical staff
