Full Job Description
Summary: The Warehouse and Materials Supervisor is responsible for overseeing warehouse, receiving, inventory control, and material flow operations to support uninterrupted production. This role ensures raw materials, supplies, and finished goods are accurately tracked, properly stored, and available to meet production schedules. The Warehouse and Materials Supervisor partners cross-functionally with production, scheduling, purchasing, and accounting to maintain inventory accuracy, optimize material flow, and prevent production disruptions.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains materials team members.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the materials team, assigning tasks and managing priorities to support production schedules.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations for all direct reports.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages all inbound receiving operations, ensuring materials are accurately received, inspected, documented, and put away in a timely manner.
  • Manages all materials tracking and control functions for the facility, including raw materials, substrates, supplies, and finished goods; maintains accurate stock records through regular cycle counts, reconciliations, and system updates to ensure on-hand quantities reflect physical stock at all times.
  • Oversees the movement of materials and finished product throughout the facility, ensuring production departments receive what they need without delay or disruption to workflow.
  • Develops and maintains an organized warehouse layout and storage system that maximizes space utilization, supports efficient material retrieval
  • Collaborates with production and scheduling teams to anticipate material needs, flag shortages or delays, and ensure materials are staged and ready ahead of production start.
  • Works with the purchasing team to communicate materials status, establish min/max thresholds, identify reorder needs, and support accurate and timely replenishment; provides regular materials reporting to operations and finance leadership.
  • Conducts regular team huddles and department meetings to review priorities, address issues, and keep the materials team aligned with daily and weekly production demands.
  • Communicates, interprets, and enforces company policies, safety standards, and warehouse procedures; recommends updates as operational needs evolve.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment; enforces housekeeping standards and ensures compliance with OSHA and facility safety requirements.
  • Cooperates with and supports other department heads as needed, including production, scheduling, purchasing, and accounting, to ensure materials are tracked and accounted for accurately across the facility.
  • Identifies and drives opportunities to reduce material waste, improve warehouse efficiency, and eliminate movement or handling that slows production.

• 3+ years of experience in warehouse management, materials management, or logistics, preferably in a manufacturing or print production environment
• Solid understanding of materials and stock management principles including cycle counting, FIFO, and stock reconciliation
• Experience using ERP or WMS platforms to manage inventory transactions, material movement, cycle counting, and reporting.
• Experience generating and interpreting materials reports
• Proficient in standard business software including Microsoft Office
• Knowledgeable of warehouse safety standards, OSHA requirements, and best practices for material handling and storage
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a small team, with a hands-on, floor-level management style
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced production environment
• Strong cross-functional communication skills; ability to work effectively with production, scheduling, purchasing, and operations teams
• Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement practical process improvements that reduce waste and improve material flow

Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
• Requires fine motor hand and arm movement, manual dexterity and coordination.
• Must be able to access and navigate each department in the facility.

Work Environment

This position requires work in an office and production environment. May occasionally be exposed to hazardous materials or near moving mechanical parts while on the production floor.

Salary Description

$75,000 - $100,000 annually
