Position Overview

WCF Insurance has an immediate opening for someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as a VP, Strategy, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. This is a full-time, exempt position.

WCF is a financially strong, growing mutual insurer with capital and the appetite to expand through both organic and inorganic means, and this position exists to bring outside-in analytical rigor to those decisions. The VP is expected to operate as both an executive leader and a hands-on problem solver. This position is based at WCF Insurance's Sandy , Utah headquarters in Sandy, Utah. Relocation assistance is available for the applicant selected.

Responsibilities

Enterprise Strategy
  • Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team to develop, refine, and evolve WCF's enterprise strategy.
  • Conduct environmental scanning, competitive analysis, market intelligence, and scenario planning to identify emerging opportunities and risks.
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable initiatives and investment decisions across the organization.
  • Establish governance processes, strategic planning cycles, executive briefings, and board-level reporting mechanisms.

Mergers & Acquisitions
  • Develop and maintain acquisition and strategic partnership pipelines aligned with WCF's strategic priorities.
  • Lead the identification, evaluation, negotiation, due diligence, and integration of acquisition opportunities.
  • Collaborate with finance, legal, technology, actuarial, and business leaders throughout transaction lifecycles.
  • Build repeatable M&A processes, frameworks, governance structures, and playbooks, and develop the Manager, Mergers & Acquisitions.

Marketing & Brand
  • Set the direction for WCF's brand, marketing strategy, communications, community relations, and the WCF Foundation through the VP, Marketing & Strategy.
  • Ensure marketing, distribution, and agency priorities reinforce the enterprise strategy, particularly in geographic and product expansion.
  • Bring analytical discipline to marketing investment decisions, segmentation, and measurement.

Transformation
  • Oversee the Transformation Office through the VP, Transformation, ensuring the enterprise initiative portfolio reflects strategic priorities.
  • Maintain a single prioritized view of enterprise initiatives so that sequencing, resourcing, and trade-off decisions are made deliberately.
  • Partner with the CIO, COO, and business leaders to move validated initiatives into execution and hold them to measurable outcomes

Qualifications
  • MBA or equivalent graduate degree required; bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or a related analytical field.
  • At least five years of post-MBA experience, including experience at a management consulting firm at the engagement manager or case team leader level or above.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing enterprise or corporate strategy for a large, complex organization.
  • Direct experience leading or supporting mergers, acquisitions, or corporate development transactions from thesis through diligence and integration.
  • Experience leading and developing teams or demonstrated readiness to move from leading client teams to leading a permanent organization.
  • Strong analytical, business, and financial acumen, including comfort with financial modeling, valuation, and capital allocation.
  • Experience in insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to the executive team and the board of directors.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and lead complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Team-player mindset and willingness to collaborate.

The expected salary range for this position is 165,000.00-297,100.00. This salary range depends on experience, education, and location for this specific position.
