Full Job Description
The Vice President, Showrooms-Blue Nile is the senior operational leader accountable for the strategic direction, performance, and culture of Blue Nile’s showroom network. This role owns the full retail P&L, drives consistent execution across all store locations, and translates brand vision into exceptional in-store customer experiences that reinforce Blue Nile’s position as a premier destination for diamonds, engagement rings, and fine jewelry. This is a leader-first role. The VP builds trust-based partnerships with senior executives across the enterprise, empowers regional and store leadership teams, and ensures the retail channel is a competitive advantage for Blue Nile .Core Accountabilities Retail Leadership & Talent Development • Lead, coach, and develop regional and store managers and their organizations; act as a force multiplier who elevates direct reports rather than operating tactically. • Set the retail operating model, talent strategy, and organizational structure in partnership with HR and Finance. • Champion a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, diversity, inclusion, and customer obsession. • Build succession pipelines at every level of the retail organization to support sustainable growth. Senior Executive Business Partnership • Build peer-level relationships with senior executives across eCommerce, Marketing, Merchandising, Customer Care, Supply Chain, and Finance. • Translate brand strategy and customer experience priorities into a coherent retail roadmap anchored in measurable outcomes, not activity. • Represent the retail channel in executive forums; communicate performance, risks, and trade-offs in clear business terms. • Serve as the primary liaison between retail operations and corporate leadership, ensuring alignment on company priorities. Retail Strategy & Growth • Own the multi-year retail growth strategy, including store expansion, market penetration, and innovative showroom formats. • Monitor market trends, competitive dynamics, and consumer behavior to adapt strategies and maintain Blue Nile’s competitive position. • Drive evaluation and adoption of emerging retail concepts and technologies in partnership with the broader Digital & Technology organization. • Ensure consistency and high performance across all locations through defined standards, KPIs, and governance cadences. Customer Experience & Operational Excellence • Champion a customer-obsessed culture, ensuring a superior and consistent shopping experience across all showroom locations. • Establish and monitor KPIs spanning sales performance, customer satisfaction, Net Promoter Score, and operational efficiency. • Gather and analyze customer feedback to continuously improve service, operations, and in-store experience. • Implement loyalty and retention initiatives that deepen customer relationships and drive repeat purchase behavior. • Maintain high standards for store appearance, visual merchandising, and operational procedures. Financial Stewardship & P&L Ownership • Own the retail operating budget, capital plan, and full P&L including loss prevention responsibility for store operations. • Drive revenue growth and profitability through strategic planning, disciplined execution, and cost optimization. • Collaborate with Finance to monitor financial performance, develop forecasts, and hold the organization accountable to targets. • Drive continuous improvement in cost efficiency, workforce productivity, and inventory management. Compliance & Standards • Ensure all store operations comply with company policies, industry regulations, and applicable legal requirements. • Establish and enforce operational standards that protect the brand, employees, and customers. • Partner with Legal, HR, and Risk Management to proactively address compliance and people-related matters. Experience & Successful Profile • MBA preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field required; • 12+ years of progressive leadership in retail operations, including multi-unit or multi-region management with a strong track record of success. • Proven experience building and empowering regional and store management teams at scale, with a preference for developing leaders over operating tactically. • Demonstrated P&L ownership across a multi-location retail network, including budget management, financial forecasting, and cost optimization. • Track record of peer-level partnerships with senior business executives (VP+) across Marketing, Merchandising, eCommerce, Supply Chain, and Finance. • Demonstrated focus on customer experience outcomes — translating brand strategy into store-level execution that drives satisfaction and loyalty. • Strong financial acumen including full P&L accountability; comfort operating in a matrixed, fast-paced environment. • Experience in specialty retail or luxury/fine jewelry preferred; omnichannel retail background strongly valued. • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and executive presence skills with the ability to motivate and inspire large, diverse teams. Location & Work Environment • New York City (R2Net Operations Office) preferred; • Travel approximately 30–40% domestic to showroom locations.
