Vice President of Finance

Location: Irvine, CA (Onsite)

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President of Finance will lead the company's accounting, financial planning & analysis, cost accounting, and financial operations. This is a highly visible executive leadership position responsible for providing financial insight that drives strategic decisions while building scalable processes capable of supporting significant future growth.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to manage the close process and partnering with the executive team on forecasting, fundraising support, capital planning, and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Leadership
  • Lead all accounting operations, including monthly close, financial reporting, audit coordination, tax compliance, and internal controls.
  • Oversee cost accounting, inventory accounting, standard costing, manufacturing variances, and inventory valuation.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, GAAP-compliant financial statements.
  • Manage cash flow, treasury activities, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization.
  • Lead the annual external audit with a Big Four audit firm.

Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Own the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial planning.
  • Maintain and enhance sophisticated three-statement financial models used for forecasting, financing, and strategic planning.
  • Develop executive dashboards, KPI reporting, and Board-level financial presentations.
  • Perform financial analysis on strategic initiatives, customer opportunities, and operational investments.

Strategic Finance
  • Partner closely with the CEO and executive leadership team on strategic business decisions.
  • Evaluate capital investments, financing opportunities, and major commercial initiatives.
  • Support fundraising efforts, lender relationships, due diligence requests, and financing analyses.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance on complex customer agreements, including ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • Lead initiatives to improve financial systems, reporting infrastructure, and operational processes as the business continues to scale.

Leadership
  • Lead and mentor a growing finance and accounting organization, including accounting, FP&A, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost accounting, and financial analysis.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement and business partnership.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience.
  • Proven experience leading both Accounting and FP&A functions.
  • Strong manufacturing finance experience with deep expertise in:
    • Cost accounting
    • Standard costing
    • Inventory accounting
    • Manufacturing operations finance
  • Advanced financial modeling and forecasting experience.
  • Experience building scalable finance organizations in high-growth environments.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and complex revenue recognition (ASC 606 experience highly desirable).
  • Demonstrated success partnering with executive leadership on strategic business decisions.
  • Experience supporting audits, financing activities, lender relationships, and investor due diligence.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to present financial insights to executives, lenders, and Board members.
