Position Synopsis

Our private equity backed client seeks a Corporate Controller to drive operational excellence. Backed by a middle-market private equity firm, their $800M retail portfolio company is transforming the finance and accounting team to the next level of strategic output. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will step into a highly visible role acting as a true transformational leader. Beyond core accounting functions, you will oversee budgeting, treasury, and process normalization across a sprawling, multi-location operating footprint. Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain comprehensive responsibility for producing timely, complete, and accurate financial reporting for the entire platform company
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a highly integrated, productive retail accounting organization consisting of a team of 20 corporate accounting, operational accounting, and operational finance professionals.
  • Oversee the generation, verification, and timely transmission of complex statutory and financial reports required by suppliers.
  • Schedule, manage, and enforce a strict financial closing calendar to ensure seamless and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close cycles.
  • Supervise and perform high-level review of all core dealership accounting analysis, balance sheets, and consolidated financial reports before executive presentation.
  • Partner closely with the General Managers, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Revenue Officer, and CEO to provide premier corporate financial service while strictly ensuring compliance with standard practices.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and spearhead the implementation of enhanced retail accounting policies, internal controls, and corporate compliance procedures.
  • Support the overarching corporate accounting function by collaborating on strategic tax planning, corporate consolidations, and external audit management.
  • Partner with the CFO to establish, monitor, and enforce critical financial and operating benchmarks, corporate budgets, and key performance tracking metrics.
  • Guide the finance department through rapid M&A integration, running point on onboarding accounting systems for newly acquired entities


Experience
  • Proven, progressive functional accounting leadership experience specifically within retail, multi-unit, restaurant, or dealerships.
  • Demonstrated success managing, mentoring, and scaling complex, cross-functional accounting teams of 15+ personnel across a multi-location operating structure.
  • Prior financial leadership experience operating within a private equity portfolio company, working under institutional scaling expectations.
  • Experience assisting with the normalization, systems integration, and balance sheet reconciliation of newly acquired dealership points.
