Position Overview

The Hartford is seeking an enterprise product and P&L leader to shape the future of its Auto and Home portfolios, driving profitable growth, strengthening market competitiveness, and accelerating performance in a dynamic and evolving insurance landscape. Reporting to the Chief Product & Data Science Officer, this leader will own financial performance and product strategy across the Direct, Agency and emerging

distribution channels.

Optimizing an integrated household product strategy is the primary focus of the role, while ensuring Auto and Home maintain the distinct underwriting, pricing, regulatory and market expertise required to compete and grow profitably. As the VP, Head of Countrywide Auto and Home Product, you will be responsible for the overall success of the Auto and Home portfolio will be with this leader, including growth, profitability, market position, and customer outcomes, ensuring strategic investments are aligned to enterprise priorities and business objectives This leader will influence and mobilize decisions across product, pricing, underwriting, distribution, customer experience, catastrophe and concentration management, telematics, data and technology to deliver sustained profitable growth. As a senior leader owning major Auto and Home investments, this leader will connect line-specific roadmaps with broader Personal Insurance priorities in partnership with Technology and Delivery Partners. This is a highly visible role with the Personal Insurance Senior Leadership Team and leads through experienced Auto and Home product leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the business
• Accountable for Auto and Home overall portfolio health in partnership with Personal Insurance senior leadership team to balance critical decisions on growth, retention, new business, profit and customer experience. Make clear portfolio-level trade-offs across price, risk, coverage, customer value, expenses and investment.
• Strengthen portfolio management by connecting product, pricing, underwriting and claims insights.
• Identify emerging performance signals and mobilize timely interventions across the portfolio.

Advance product, pricing, and underwriting
• Establish distinct line strategies within a cohesive household portfolio and customer value proposition.
• Lead the Auto and Home product roadmaps, including coverage, pricing, segmentation, underwriting and annual rate plans.
• Ensure strategies reflect the different economics and risk dynamics of Auto and Home, including catastrophe exposure, geographic concentration, severity trends, repair costs, mobility and evolving customer behavior.
• Partner with Actuarial, State Product, Underwriting, Data Science, Claims, Distribution, Service, Customer Experience and Forms and Filing to improve price-to-risk accuracy, market competitiveness and speed to market.

Lead innovation and transformation
• Serve as senior Business Owner for major Auto and Home investments to prioritize product, data and technology roadmaps.
• Lead the evolution of telematics, connected mobility, aging in place, property intelligence, inspection, prevention and risk-mitigation capabilities.
• Use data, analytics, AI and automation to improve decisions, customer experiences and operating performance.
• Simplify and modernize capabilities shared across Auto and Home while

preserving necessary line-specific differentiation. Establish measures for adoption, financial impact, customer outcomes and value realization.
• Use testing, pilots and post-launch measurement to confirm financial and customer value.

Build talent and alignment
• Champions a high-performance culture by developing leaders, driving succession outcomes, and holding leadership teams accountable for talent readiness, capability building, and long-term organizational health.
• Lead and develop a strong team of Auto and Home product leaders with meaningful succession depth.
• Clarify decision rights between the portfolio leader, line leaders, State Product teams and functional partners.
• Build shared product-management disciplines while maintaining deep technical expertise within each line.
• Create alignment across Product, Actuarial, Claims, Sales, Marketing, Service, Finance, Technology, Data, Legal and Compliance.
• Provide an integrated product and portfolio perspective in Personal Insurance leadership discussions and decisions.

Qualifications:
• 15+ years of P&C insurance experience, including significant leadership experience in Personal Lines product, pricing, underwriting, actuarial or general management.
• Proven executive leader with successful end-to-end accountability for a complex business, product portfolio, or P&L, demonstrating the ability to drive strategy, execution, profitability, organizational performance, and sustained business outcomes.
• Deep understanding of Personal Lines economics, pricing, underwriting, coverage, regulation and Direct and Agency distribution. Meaningful experience in either Personal Auto or Home, combined with demonstrated ability to lead effectively across multiple products or portfolios.
• Track record of translating customer, market, competitor, actuarial, claims and financial insights into profitable growth.
• Experience managing portfolio-level trade-offs across product lines with different risk, capital, regulatory and financial dynamics.
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics, translating insights into proactive product, pricing, distribution, and go-to-market strategies that drive sustainable business growth.
• Experience leading product or business transformation, including investment decisions, technology-enabled delivery, adoption and value realization.
• Strong data and digital fluency. Experience with telematics, property intelligence, advanced pricing, digital insurance, catastrophe management or prevention capabilities is preferred.
• Proven ability to influence senior leaders and navigate complex trade-offs; exercises strong enterprise judgment, challenges constructively, leads through leaders, and mobilizes cross-functional teams to achieve business outcomes.
• Strong people leadership, including coaching, succession planning, capability building and organizational design.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Advanced degree or relevant professional designation preferred.

This role is a Hybrid work schedule. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$216,000 - $324,000
