Full Job Description
The VP, Global Programming is responsible for defining and leading the creation of our Flagship "always on" programming worldwide to drive both new and repeat traffic by connecting visitors to the Sotheby's universe in compelling and unexpected ways. Through experiential formats including exhibitions, experiences, artist/celebrity collaborations, and pop-up moments, this role will expand the Sotheby's audience globally, create new pathways to becoming a Sotheby's client, and drive incremental revenue through paid experiences and pop-up sales.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design and lead the creation and execution of experiential programming across Sotheby's Flagship locations worldwide, ensuring there are engaging and exciting moments every day in every location
• Drive incremental revenue through programming efforts such as ticketed VIP experiences and exhibition pop-up sales
• Partner with internal hospitality partners to create immersive environments and hospitality crossover experiences
• Partner across marketing, PR, events, partnerships, Retail, and Operations to lead the creation of programming initiatives that increase awareness, new client acquisition, and client lifetime value
• Create a global governance structure to ensure clarity, alignment, and sharing of best practices across key partners helping to lead and execute programming efforts globally
• Create a set of global KPIs and ongoing communication structure and cadence to share the work and impact of Programming efforts globally
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
• Bachelor's degree required; MBA is desired
• 10+ years in programming, events and experiences, and marketing and client engagement. Experience in museums, or other cultural institutions, luxury, and/or hospitality a plus
• Experience bringing new and innovative formats, events, and experiences to market successfully
• Proven track record in driving scalable change and business transformations
• Comfortable with ambiguity and change - Programming is an emergent function within Sotheby's and an entrepreneurial mindset is important
• Willingness to continuously improve, develop, and understand industry best practices and a desire to stay ahead of the curve and at the forefront of innovation
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team (local and global)
• Excellent organizational skills
• Be proactive/motivated/confident/forward thinking and efficient, with a good eye for detail and ability to prioritize tasks and to meet deadlines
• Excellent communication skills, written and spoken
• Fluent in English essential, other languages beneficial
The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $150,000-$180,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
