Full Job Description
RWE Americas, LLC
To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent

Functional area: Business Development
Remuneration: Exempt

The Vice President, Energy Campus Project Development is responsible for originating and advancing integrated energy campus project opportunities from early concept through readiness for Final Investment Decision (FID). The role focuses on project development of the investment opportunity itself-including site strategy, technology integration, development pathways, and risk/value definition-and does not own commercial origination, customer contracting, or offtake negotiations.

A core mandate of this role is to enable strong collaboration between RWE's renewables and flexible generation project development organizations, ensuring that multi technology energy campus opportunities are coherently structured, development ready, and positioned for investment approval.

While U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and other federal agency programs represent an important pathway for identifying and advancing energy campus opportunities, this role is intentionally scoped broadly to support a diversified pipeline of projects across customers, markets, and development mechanisms.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Originate and advance energy campus project opportunities by identifying sites, development pathways, and integrated technology configurations capable of supporting large-scale load requirements
  • Lead project-level origination and development focused on defining the investment opportunity (site control, interconnection strategy, permitting pathways, technology integration), distinct from commercial or offtake origination
  • Drive cross-technology development coordination between renewable energy and flexible generation project development teams to deliver integrated, multi-asset projects through pre-FID milestones
  • Shape early-stage development concepts into cohesive, investment-ready energy campus proposals, including risk identification, value drivers, sequencing, and critical decision paths
  • Partner closely with the Flexgen Project Development organization to align development scope, technical feasibility, and milestone planning across integrated assets
  • Collaborate with Structured Origination to ensure energy campus concepts are compatible with investment structures and risk allocation, while clearly avoiding ownership of deal execution or commercial negotiations
  • Coordinate with Flexgen Business Development to ensure customer needs and market context inform project definition, without assuming responsibility for customer contracting or offtake agreements
  • Work with External Affairs to leverage policy, regulatory, and government-program insights (including DOE and other federal agencies) in support of project development strategy
  • Advance selected energy campus opportunities through internal development gates and prepare clear, decision-quality materials for senior leadership and investment committees
  • Represent RWE in select external engagements related to project development, site strategy, and public-sector programs, as appropriate
  • Support portfolio prioritization, pipeline governance, and development resourcing discussions for energy campus opportunities across geographies

Job Requirements and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, economics, or related field
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 12 years in energy infrastructure, project development, or complex energy systems
  • Demonstrated experience advancing multi-technology projects in a matrixed organization
  • Exposure to federal, state, or policy-driven development programs strongly preferred
  • Integrated Project Development: Ability to define and advance complex, multi-asset investment opportunities
  • Development Leadership: Strong understanding of development pathways across renewable and conventional technologies
  • Matrix Collaboration: Proven effectiveness working across distinct development and commercial organizations
  • Strategic Judgment: Ability to balance technical, regulatory, policy, and investment considerations
  • Executive Communication: Clear, concise articulation of risks, value, and development pathways
  • This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWEA offices and field locations
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
