Sompo has a unique opportunity for a VP, Delegated Authority Claims in our Financial Lines Claims team.

This role will be responsible for managing delegated authority claims activity involving third-party administrators, program administrators, managing general agents, claims counsel, and other external partners handling claims on behalf of the company. The successful candidate will provide technical claims leadership, governance oversight, escalation management, and portfolio insight across professional liability, management liability, transactional liability, cyber, miscellaneous E&O, and related specialty financial lines programs.

What you'll be doing:
  • Oversee delegated authority claims activity across assigned Financial Lines and specialty programs to ensure effective and compliant claims management.
  • Manage and monitor TPAs, MGAs, program administrators, counsel, and other delegated claims partners for adherence to guidelines, service standards, authority levels, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review complex, high-exposure, litigated, or escalated claims and provide strategic direction on coverage, reserves, litigation, settlement, and resolution.
  • Evaluate partner performance through audits, file and bordereau reviews, referral tracking, quality assurance, and performance reporting, while ensuring timely escalation of high-risk matters.
  • Develop and maintain governance frameworks, operating controls, reporting standards, audit procedures, and authority protocols for delegated claims programs.
  • Partner cross-functionally and provide leadership by identifying trends and risks, delivering executive reporting, supporting partner due diligence, and helping build scalable oversight practices across the portfolio.


What you'll bring:

  • 10+ years of progressive claims experience, with deep expertise in Financial Lines claims.
  • Juris Doctor Degree required
  • Strong technical knowledge of professional liability, management liability, D&O, E&O, EPL, transactional liability, cyber, and related specialty claims.
  • Experience overseeing TPAs, MGAs, program administrators, delegated authority arrangements, panel counsel, and complex vendor governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess coverage, liability, damages, reserves, litigation strategy, settlement posture, claim trends, and material exposures.
  • Experience reviewing bordereaux, claim files, audit results, service-level performance, referral compliance, and claims data quality.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and executive communication skills;


Salary Range: $170,000 - $220,000. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
