Overview Quorum is hiring a VP, Data Platform to own the vision, execution, adoption, and ongoing operation of a cross-segment data platform. The VP, Data Platform is focused specifically on data - the architecture, curation, governance, and productization of data as a cross-cutting capability, and accountability for the cross-product use cases that depend on it.
The ideal candidate is a senior technical leader who thinks in broad strokes across all segments and is the single, accountable point of ownership for data. This role will own the vision of the platform, its execution, its adoption across the segments, and the successful arrival of cross-product use cases into production.
Responsibilities Platform ownership • Own the vision for Quorum's data platform to address use cases that straddle multiple products and product lines.
• Own the execution and delivery of that vision, not just its definition.
• Own adoption of the platform across all segments and use cases.
• Own operation of the platform, and serve as the single accountable owner when cross-product data issues arise.
• Define and articulate the finish line for cross-product data use cases and navigate teams to it - driving delivery into production.
Data architecture & governance • Set the direction for the full data lifecycle: ingestion, ETL, curation, and governance across the portfolio.
• Make data AI-ready - curate and structure data as a contextual layer that can feed AI agents and AI platforms.
• Standardize data so it can be safely exposed to customers and third parties, applying a data-as-a-product mindset.
• Own the governance and regulatory posture of data, including data-loss-prevention (DLP) considerations.
Leadership & influence • Lead a small direct team (one direct report to start) while exercising broad influence over segment data teams on a dotted-line basis for day-to-day delivery.
• Drive teams to outcomes through both direct reporting and cross-functional influence.
• Translate platform capabilities into the business capabilities they unlock, and translate that vision into concrete execution for delivery teams.
External representation • Serve as a customer-facing leader: meet with senior executives at marquee customers, globally, to articulate Quorum's vision on data and how it applies to them.
• Be the face of Quorum in open-standards and partner forums, including the associated stewardship and administrative work.
• Foster third-party and vendor relationships and move the needle on key partnerships.
And other duties as assigned. Qualifications • Deep, demonstrated command of the full data-platform construct - ingestion, ETL, curation, and governance - i.e., the sum total of everything data.
• Experience architecting data as a product, including standardizing data for external/third-party consumption.
• Experience preparing data as a contextual layer for AI agents / AI platforms.
• Strong grasp of data governance and the regulatory implications of data, including DLP.
• Proven program / project management: able to define a finish line and navigate a team to it through both direct authority and influence.
• Executive presence and business acumen: able to connect technical platform capabilities to business value for senior audiences, and translate strategy into what teams must do to execute.
• Strong cross-functional influence across teams the role does not directly manage.
• Willingness to travel and comfort operating in the room with senior customer executives and at industry forums.
Preferred Qualifications • Has personally operated a data platform in production.
• Domain experience in energy / oil & gas is a plus but not required.
• Familiarity with OSDU and industry data standards, and experience representing an organization in standards or partner ecosystems.
