GENERAL SUMMARYProviding credit and loan analytical expertise with a focus on CRE transactions to a team of Commercial Loan Officers. Analyzes prospective loan transactions and credit worthiness of borrowers. Prepares credit analysis and provides opinions and recommendations regarding proposed credit and potential risks to both the credit and collateral securing the transactions. Ensures all due diligence, financial and background evaluation is complete and thorough on a loan request so credit approval can be considered.
Participates and follows established Bank policies and department procedures. Responsible for contributing to the processing of new complex credit requests and the extension of existing credit facilities. Underwrites and recommends decisions on credit requests generated by line unit Team Managers and Relationship Managers.
Participates in all due diligence and background evaluations so credit approval can be considered.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Specifically accountable for credit underwriting of new credits from new clients, existing client base, loan pools and renewals.
- Work with designated account officers, loan assistants and other loan support staff to prepare the Credit Commitment Report ("CCR")
- Reviews existing and new loan exposures, proposed extensions of credit and financial information; evaluates credit structure and terms; determines sources and uses of funds; analyzes industry data, competitive factors, historical performance, projected results, risks, and mitigating factors.
- At the direction of the Team Manager and/or in concert with the Account Officer, contacts borrowers directly, as appropriate, for additional information and details related to loan request or clarification of financial materials and resources.
- Interacts with lending units, Credit Administration, Appraisals, Legal, and other related Bank personnel regarding issues of credit quality, appropriate compensation for risk, as well as new business and related trends.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge on all Bank lending policies and regulations.
- Reviews risk grading as appropriate to credit analysis to identify potential credit issues.
- Escalates potential credit issues to Team Manager, Division Manager and Account Officer.
- Ensures compliance with Bank, regulatory and credit requirements with emphasis on quality customer service while adhering to given deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS- Education: College graduate, with major in accounting or business preferred. Must be proficient in college level accounting fundamentals, processes, and terminology.
- Experience: 5-7 + years corporate commercial lending and general banking experience (or equivalent experience in the field of financial/credit analysis) with general knowledge of lending practices and regulations, loan funding/closing procedures, and credit/underwriting practices.
- Skills/Ability: Good knowledge of commercial credit policies and procedures. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Good verbal and written communication skills to present clear and precise recommendations based upon analysis of a loan structure and request. Ability to work independently and in teams and interact effectively with most levels of Bank personnel and outside contacts. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and financial spreading program such as nCino.
