Full Job Description
The Vice President, Construction is accountable for leading the construction strategy, governance, and delivery model for Canadian Tire Corporation's real estate portfolio. This role ensures construction programs are aligned to enterprise priorities and delivered with strong discipline across cost, quality, schedule, safety, sustainability, risk, and long-term asset performance.

What you will do:
  • Lead the construction strategy and associated annual planning process - ensuring capital programs, resources, governance, and execution models align with enterprise and business priorities.
  • Oversee the delivery of construction programs that support growth, building/enabling high-performing real estate assets, and creating long-term value for the business.
  • Establish and maintain strong construction, design, and project delivery processes to manage operational, financial, safety, compliance, and reputational risk.
  • Champion a strong safety culture across construction sites, project teams, vendors, contractors, and consultants.
  • Set standards for vendor, contractor, and consultant selection, pre-qualification, onboarding, performance management, and accountability.
  • Partner cross-functionally across Real Estate teams, Business units, Canadian Tire Dealers, Finance, Operations, Legal, Procurement, Sustainability, and other stakeholders to enable effective project execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement through new technologies, construction methods, materials, and approaches that improve cost, value, functionality, energy performance, and sustainability.
  • Provide senior-level oversight on complex project issues, escalations, trade-offs, and decisions impacting schedule, budget, risk, quality, and stakeholder outcomes.
  • Build capability within the construction function through workforce planning, coaching, succession planning, talent development, and strong team leadership.
  • Build a high-performance organization grounded in collaboration, accountability, innovation, inclusion, and disciplined execution.


What you will bring
  • Progressive senior leadership experience in construction, project delivery, and capital program management, ideally in a large, complex, multi-site organization.
  • Deep expertise in commercial, retail, industrial, or corporate real estate construction, including design, development, budgeting, scheduling, governance, risk management, and vendor management.
  • Proven experience setting construction strategy and translating business priorities into executable plans and measurable outcomes - on budget on time project delivery, and the navigation to get there, is essential.
  • Strong understanding of construction risk, safety, compliance, procurement, contracts, quality assurance, and financial stewardship.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop talent, and create strong operating rhythms across internal teams and external partners.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and Dealer partners, in a matrixed environment, to align competing priorities.
  • Strong commercial acumen, judgment, and ability to balance speed, cost, quality, sustainability, risk, and long-term asset performance.
  • Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering, architecture, real estate, business, or a related discipline. Professional designations such as P.Eng., PMP, LEED, or equivalent experience are considered assets.
