Position SummaryThe Vice President (VP) of Clinical Support Services provides executive leadership for a diverse portfolio of clinical, patient support, and operational services that are integral to delivering exceptional patient and family-centered care across the health system. This leader is responsible for the strategic direction, operational performance, financial stewardship, quality, safety, regulatory compliance, workforce engagement, and continuous improvement of assigned service lines. In partnership with physician, nursing, and executive leaders, this role integrates multidisciplinary programs and services to improve access, strengthen care coordination, enhance the patient and family experience, and advance operational excellence. Through collaboration, innovation, and data-driven decision making, the VP ensures that assigned services are aligned with the organization`s mission, strategic priorities, and commitment to clinical excellence, exceptional outcomes, and long-term organizational success. The VP of Clinical Support Services reports directly to senior executive operations leadership.
Position Duties - Strategic Leadership
a. Develop and execute the strategic vision for assigned clinical, patient support, and operational service lines in alignment with the health system`s mission and strategic priorities.
b. Identify opportunities to improve access, integration, growth, innovation, and operational performance across the enterprise.
c. Partner with executive, physician, and clinical leaders to advance organizational initiatives and achieve system-wide objectives. - Operational Excellence
a. Provide executive oversight for the operational performance of assigned departments across all care settings.
b. Establish standardized processes, performance expectations, and accountability measures that promote efficiency, consistency, and service excellence.
c. Monitor key operational metrics and drive continuous improvement in access, throughput, productivity, and service delivery. - Clinical Quality, Patient Experience & Regulatory Compliance
a. Foster a culture of clinical excellence, patient safety, patient- and family-centered care, and continuous regulatory readiness.
b. Partner with Quality, Safety, and physician leadership to improve clinical outcomes, patient experience, accreditation performance, and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
c. Ensure policies, standards, and practices support high-quality, safe, and equitable care. - Financial Stewardship & Resource Management
a. Lead strategic budgeting, financial planning, capital prioritization, productivity management, and resource allocation for assigned service lines.
b. Optimize operational performance while maintaining high-quality patient care and responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
c. Identify opportunities to improve financial sustainability through operational efficiencies and innovative service delivery. - Leadership & Talent Development
a. Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-performing leaders and multidisciplinary teams.
b. Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, inclusion, professional development, and succession planning.
c. Establish clear performance expectations and promote leadership development throughout the organization. - Performance Improvement & Innovation
a. Lead enterprise performance improvement initiatives utilizing Lean principles, change management methodologies, and data-driven decision making.
b. Promote innovation, digital transformation, and operational redesign to improve efficiency, patient outcomes, and organizational performance.
c. Utilize analytics and benchmarking to monitor performance and drive sustainable improvements. - Enterprise Collaboration & Integration
a. Build collaborative partnerships across clinical, operational, and administrative functions to ensure coordinated, integrated service delivery.
b. Represent Clinical Support Services on executive councils, interdisciplinary committees, and strategic initiatives.
c. Strengthen alignment among multidisciplinary service lines to support seamless care coordination and an exceptional patient and family experience. - Organizational Leadership
a. As a trusted member of the executive operations leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy, culture, and decision making.
b. Help champion the health system`s mission, vision, and values while leading organizational change and supporting strategic growth initiatives. - Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
