Vocational Nursing Clinical Coordinator

This role is primarily responsible for developing and managing clinical partnerships, overseeing clinical faculty performance, and ensuring high-quality student clinical experiences in alignment with BVNPT and institutional standards.

This position functions as a critical operational leader within the Vocational Nursing program, balancing external partnership development, faculty oversight, and instructional alignment. Teaching responsibilities are included to maintain instructional consistency and program integration.
Essential Functions
Clinical Partnerships & Site Development
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with clinical partners across hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and other healthcare settings.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of clinical sites to support current and future program growth.
  • Lead outreach, negotiation, onboarding, and approval of new clinical sites.
  • Complete and maintain clinical affiliation agreements and BVNPT applications.
  • Ensure all clinical sites meet regulatory, accreditation, and institutional requirements.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to expand and diversify clinical partnerships.
Faculty Oversight & Development
  • Orient, mentor, and support new clinical faculty, monitoring performance throughout the first 90 days.
  • Conduct faculty evaluations, including classroom and clinical observations (90-day and annual reviews).
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management for clinical instructors.
  • Facilitate quarterly clinical faculty training sessions to ensure consistency and instructional quality.
  • Ensure faculty compliance with institutional policies, documentation requirements, and regulatory standards.
Student Clinical Experience & Outcomes
  • Oversee student clinical placements to ensure alignment with course and program objectives.
  • Monitor clinical hour completion and competency progression for all students.
  • Identify at-risk students and coordinate remediation plans in collaboration with faculty and Student Services.
  • Ensure all student and faculty health and compliance documentation (e.g., Complio) is current and audit-ready.
Instruction & Coverage
  • Teach one clinical assignment per term to maintain instructional alignment with program standards.
  • Provide clinical coverage as needed, including substituting for open or emergent clinical shifts.
  • Conduct routine clinical site visits and lab check-ins to ensure instructional quality and compliance.
Compliance, Reporting & Program Operations
  • Ensure all clinical operations comply with BVNPT regulations and applicable accreditation standards.
  • Conduct course and documentation audits to ensure timely grade submission and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready records for clinical sites, faculty, and students.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Assistant Director, including:
    • Clinical site acquisition pipeline and status
    • Faculty onboarding and performance updates
    • Clinical site, faculty, or student concerns
  • Participate in departmental committees and shared governance activities.
  • Contribute to program initiatives and special projects as assigned.
  • Participate in a rotating weekend on-call schedule.

Qualifications
  • Current and active California license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) required.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of clinical nursing experience within the past five (5) years.
  • Experience in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, or comparable patient care settings.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification.
  • Previous teaching or clinical instruction experience preferred.
  • Experience with clinical site coordination, faculty oversight, or academic program support strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Up-to-date immunization records required.
Compensation
  • $90,000-$110,000 annually
  • Compensation is based on education, experience and internal equitity
