Full Job Description
The Visual Merchandising Manager is responsible for the conceptualization, development, communication and implementation of the comprehensive visual merchandising components and standards of Floor & Decor (F&D) stores. The Visual Merchandising Manager is also responsible for presenting Floor & Decor in a way that is unified, consistent, and inspiring, while delivering timing and financial goals for the specific project, business, and/or space. The positon requires the ability to drive cross-functional engagements and partnerships to ensure a 360-degree approach to all visual merchandising initiatives, collaboration with the NSVM Project Management team for fixture compatibility, Merchant/Buying team for visioning of product marketing, Creative/Marketing team for branding consistency and signage creation, as well as the Operations/Safety team to ensure the execution and safety standards are met.

Your Day Consists Of
  • Leading new visual merchandising development ensuring both creative and operational visual processes are met, from conception to implementation. This includes the following: the development of visual merchandising floor sets, the coordination of prototype reviews with key stakeholders, ensuring planograms and adjacency flows align with the overall vision, and standards to ensure a cohesive merchandise presentation that drives sales.
  • Partnering with Store Planning, Project Managers NSVM, and Construction on the layout and function of new stores, remodels, and category initiatives, fixture packages, and applicable department updates to elevate the store experience.
  • Understanding strategic merchandising initiatives for each Merchant/Buyer and developing visual concepts for each.
  • Partnering with the Regional Merchandising Teams, Store CEMs, Project Managers, and field team for NSVM to ensure high-quality execution of visual ideas through providing vision and tools, creating communications (Internal Communication), training content, and performing audits.
  • Supporting the Senior Director, NSVM for Senior Leadership alignment walk-throughs.
  • Being responsible for working through the Regional Merchandising group to teach and train the stores on the execution of the VSG by providing feedback and best practices on store walks, as well as participating in Regional trainings when needed.
  • Determining new ways to create strategic Visual Merchandising solutions that will help inspire customers and draw them into specific key categories in our stores.
  • Working strategically with cross-functional teams (Merchants/Buyers, Store Planning and Allocation, Creative/Marketing, Store Operations, the Field, and Vendor Community) to develop standards for in-store presentations that are grounded in customer insights.
  • Partnering with the Store Project Budget & Planning Manager to ensure financial objectives are being met by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, scheduling expenditures, and analyzing variances.
  • Properly tracking personal expenses and coding appropriately, on time, and within SOP guidelines.
  • Managing invoices (coding) as needed and tracking compliance to budget for all existing store projects responsible for.
  • Developing budgets, tracking actual spend, and communicating to the Store Project Budget & Planning Manager.
  • Supporting the Senior Director, NSVM for Senior Leadership alignment walk-throughs.
  • Developing and managing prototypes and the review process, including fixture documentation for the purpose of cataloging all components.
  • Leading visual presentation innovation and re-invent/refresh projects.
  • Being responsible for keeping the Visual Standards Guide up to date and available for store access to reference through collaboration with the Merchant/Buyer group, Operations/Safety, Merch Ops, NSVM, Creative, and PRO Team.
  • Documenting walks, meetings, and updates that are then communicated back to the Senior Director, New Stores & Visual Merchandising, to ensure alignment of the goal. This will aid in proper and timely follow-up of tasks.
  • Developing executable timelines to complete projects and communicating these to the Senior Director, New Stores & Visual Merchandising.
  • Being responsible for providing updates necessary for their responsible portion of the CPAR process for store projects and providing proper documentation to the Store Project Budget & Planning Manager for department and project roll-up.
  • Delivering strong leadership skills and practices through hiring, developing, coaching, mentoring, and effective succession planning for associates. Focus areas include evolving associates' business acumen, ensuring their ability to deliver on key responsibilities by role, and personal development plans.
  • Recapping and communicating to responsible partners and department team all updates on current and future projects.
  • Responding to emails and calls within 24 hours.


You'll Be Successful With
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Visual Merchandising, Art, Design, or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Three years of relevant experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company
  • Must have two or more years of project management software experience
  • Must have two or more years of design software experience (AutoCAD, Google Sketchup, or similar).
  • Proven problem-solving and team building skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to create innovative solutions
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Has exempt level experience involving project management including planning, budgeting, monitoring, and appraising various aspects of tasks related to the projects
  • Flexibility, resiliency and nimbleness; comfortable working in "grey areas" that are constantly changing
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Exceptional communication skills along with an ability to influence without direct authority and build effective partnerships
  • Comfortable taking risks, working through ambiguity and making decisions quickly
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment


WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL, HOURS, ENVIRONMENT)
  • 30%-50% travel required including air and car travel
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.


PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary Work - Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
