NOTICE OF JOB OPPORTUNITY

TITLE: Visual Designer (5)

Define and champion the visual and art direction of Snap OS, ensuring alignment with overall brand guidelines and product vision. Architect ambitious and often ambiguous design projects that will set precedent for the rest of the industry, from concept to implementation. Drive the visual design strategy for Spectacles, translating high-level product goals into actionable design initiatives and ensuring consistent execution across all touchpoints. Lead the planning, prioritization, and resource allocation for visual design projects, ensuring timely delivery and optimal team utilization. Work on an exciting portfolio of projects ranging from emerging 3D and AR technology to iconography systems across our applications. Collaborate with prototypers, product designers, engineers, and artists to solve complex problems, translate strategic goals into relevant solutions, and build world-class experiences. Help lead visual strategy and define principles and systems that help connect innovative product design with our engaging and playful brand. Design innovative interfaces and AR experiences that push boundaries. Evolve the look and feel of the Spectacles Interface. Make 2D and 3D assets from various concepts into assets for operating systems, interactive experience and other aspects of the Spectacles interface. Seek out and utilize emerging technologies to scale the impact of the Spectacles design team. Manage, mentor, and develop a team of visual designers, fostering their growth, providing constructive feedback, and conducting performance reviews. Oversee contractors in the execution of visual design assets, establishing clear deliverables, managing timelines, and ensuring quality control.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Design and Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or related field plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered, as a 3D Designer or closely related experience; OR Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Design and Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or related field plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered, as a 3D Designer or closely related experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Knowledge and/or experience in:
• Ability to prototype interactive experiences.
• Knowledge of Augmented Reality.
• Ability to plan data-driven design experiments and conduct A/B tests to discover the right UX iteratively.
• Experience in interaction design, user interface design, visual design, wireframing, prototyping, design systems, user research, and usability testing.
• At least one of the following real-time engines: Unity3D, Unreal Engine, Lens Studio.
• Modelling and sculpting using Maya and ZBrush.
• Creating hairstyles and fur using Xgen and Yeti.
• 3D rigging, low-poly modelling, and animation.
• Texturing using Substance Painter.
• Creating new features using existing functionalities.
• Proficiency in designing using Figma, Blender, Adobe Photoshop.

OTHER: Job Site: Specs Inc., 2772 Donald Douglas Loop North, Santa Monica, CA 90405. *Hybrid work permitted - Specs practices a "default together" approach and expects our team members to work in the Santa Monica, CA office at least 80% of the time (an average of 4 days per week). 40 hours/week.
