Description

VP of Operations has responsibility and accountability for P&L, driving down costs, increasing efficiencies to achieve or exceed margin and profitability goals.

Essential Duties:
  • Oversee major functions to include all operations for utility division.
  • Maintain an environment of continuous improvement. Work with management team to conceive, create, develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive and effective strategic plans to improve efficiencies.
  • Continually evaluate & monitor the changing business environment and change current processes as necessary to address gaps and eliminate waste.
  • Identify and develop best practices and standardize for sustained improvement toward lowest cost and highest value to the enterprise.
  • Ensure that the division's strategic direction and capabilities are a match with market needs as to ensure continued growth and profitability.
  • Provide vision, direction, and strategies to deliver optimal business performance.
  • Develop and drive key metrics, track, and communicate to organization; develop solutions for improvements.
  • Presents monthly reports on performance as requested.
  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure accuracy, collaboration and on time delivery of products to customers.
  • Manage assigned staff providing positive, credible, and energetic leadership. Proactively assess competencies, provide training and development as needed to develop high caliber teams.
  • Collaborate to ensure teams drive project milestones to ensure on time project completions i.e. monthly invoicing, major project activity, and daily job report.
  • Other duties as assigned, directed, requested, or needed.


Primary Focus:
  • Full P&L responsibility and accountability, through direct reports and matrix responsibility for other functions to include Operations, Quality, HR, EHS,
  • Develop with Leaders, best practices and implement across entire organization.
  • Establish performance indicators, meet, or exceed and drive for continued excellence.
  • Optimized leadership team to drive business results.
  • Hire top talent, coach, train and motivate staff to ensure the highest levels of performance are met.
  • Develop, optimize and track KPI's (key performance indicators) - drive corrective actions if off track.
  • Effectively communicate with all executive levels and operational management to ensure that goals and objectives are being met.


Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years utility transmission industry experience preferred.
  • Multi-site experience required.
  • 5-7 years of P&L responsibility with a strong operational and technical aptitude.
  • Ability to function as a change agent to quickly develop, organize and streamline operations. Sees "big picture" and can stay focused.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess a variety of abstract facts, formulate reasoned alternatives and positively communicate decisions and solutions.
  • Track record of building support and credibility with all levels of employees. Develop strong working relationships.
  • Maintains confidences and ensures appropriate levels of confidentiality.
  • Possesses a high energy level and enthusiasm with the ability to focus on agreed recommendations and results.
