Full Job Description
What You’ll do

 

Responsible for the strategic direction, leadership, and overall performance of transportation, logistics, and recycling operations. This includes trucking, dispatching, fleet maintenance, scheduling, safety, material handling, and P&L accountability. This role oversees the collection, processing, and resale of recyclable materials—including pallets, cardboard, plastics across multiple locations. This role will drive operational efficiency, maximize asset utilization, and grow revenue through effective logistics execution, backhauls, and commodity market optimization.

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for transportation, logistics, and recycling operations, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Oversee all trucking operations including dispatch, routing, scheduling, and fleet utilization to maximize efficiency, safety and service levels.
  • Seek out and introduce processes and structure that focuses on efficiency, sustainability, and scalability.
  • Supervise the dispatching of daily loads for all stores and distribution centers.
  • Ensure department always meets and exceeds all DOT and State requirements.
  • Oversee the complete maintenance of all fleet trucks, trailers, and repair shops in all locations.
  • Manage scheduling of all inbound and outbound freight into the DC and stores through efficient use of TMS and internal software.
  • Utilize KPI’s to drive efficiencies.
  • Coordinate with the purchasing department and current vendors to grow business opportunities through backhauls.
  • Manage relationships with key business partners internally and externally, including stakeholders, parcel and freight carriers, 3PL providers, and retail partners.
  • Lead recycling operations including collection, sorting, and processing, of pallets, cardboard, plastics, and other materials.
  • Identify and expand revenue through effective management and sale of recyclable commodities.
  • Partner with key functions of the business including Distribution, Operations, Finance, IT, Merchandising, HR and Legal to ensure consistent and smooth operations.
  • Responsible for the P&L of transportation, logistics and recycling.
  • May be required to cross train and perform other duties

Essential Qualities for Success
  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong industry knowledge of best practices in supply chain management and transportation
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong decision maker with exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office

The pay range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000 annualized and is bonus eligible. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as relevant geographic location, education, certifications, experience, job level, shift, and organizational needs.
