About the Job

LifeWise is seeking a gospel-centered, strategic and people-focused Vice President of Human Resources to lead and scale its HR function. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this leader will oversee an HR team of approximately 14 employees supporting a rapidly growing, multistate workforce of more than 3,000 employees and 10,000 volunteers.

The Vice President of Human Resources is responsible for organizational leadership across all areas of HR, including talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, performance and talent management, compensation, compliance, human resources systems and workforce planning.

This leader will develop a high-performing HR team, equip managers to lead effectively and build consistent, mission-aligned practices across the organization. The Vice President of Human Resources will play a key role in shaping the employee experience and aligning LifeWise's people strategy with its mission, culture and organizational goals.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic HR leadership that advances the mission, values, culture and organizational goals of LifeWise
  • Lead, develop and scale a high-performing HR team capable of supporting a large and growing organization
  • Develop and oversee scalable HR processes, resources, training and support that equip local program leaders to manage day-to-day HR responsibilities consistently, effectively and in alignment with LifeWise standards and applicable employment laws
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and managers on employee relations, performance and workforce planning
  • Oversee complex employee relations matters with sound judgment, consistency, discretion and care
  • Provide leadership across talent acquisition, onboarding, compensation, performance management and employee retention
  • Design, implement and continually improve HR policies, processes, systems and service standards
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local employment laws, reporting requirements and internal standards
  • Oversee HR technology, data, reporting and key performance indicators to support informed decision-making and organizational accountability
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, development, retention and alignment with the LifeWise mission
  • Partner with leaders on organizational structure, staffing needs, role clarity and workforce planning


Qualifications
  • A mature personal Christian faith consistent with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or a related field or equivalent relevant experience
  • Ten or more years of progressive HR experience, including at least five years leading an HR team or function
  • Experience supporting a large, geographically dispersed, multistate workforce
  • Broad HR expertise, including employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation and employment law
  • Demonstrated experience building and improving HR systems and processes
  • Experience developing leaders and building high-performing teams
  • High level of discretion, integrity, emotional maturity and sound judgment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Experience using HR systems and data to guide decisions; ADP Lyric experience preferred
  • Professional HR certification, such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
  • Experience in a nonprofit, ministry or mission-driven organization preferred
