POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Marketing will be responsible for building and managing a world-class marketing organization for a global life sciences tools company. This positon will lead both centralized and field marketing functions to drive global marketing initiatives and align them with the company's strategic goals. The VP of Marketing will be a key member of the commercial team and play a crucial role in driving revenue growth, increasing market share, and enhancing brand reputation through innovative, data-driven marketing strategies. Hiring and developing top talent for key functions within the marketing team is a high priority.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Build and Lead a High-Performance Marketing Organization:

o Recruit, develop, and retain top-tier marketing talent across all marketing functions, ensuring a highly skilled, diverse, and motivated team.

o Establish and implement a global marketing strategy that supports business growth and customer acquisition.
• Product Marketing:

o Oversee the product marketing function to ensure successful product positioning, messaging, and promotion in alignment with customer needs and R&D priorities.

o Collaborate with sales and product development to translate complex product features into clear customer value propositions.
• Brand Management:

o Lead efforts to maintain and enhance the company's global brand reputation.

o Ensure consistency in branding and messaging across all channels, markets, and regions.
• Digital Marketing:

o Drive digital transformation and optimize the company's digital presence across websites, social media, email campaigns, and search engine marketing (SEO/SEM).

o Leverage digital marketing for lead generation, customer engagement, and analytics-driven decision making.
• Content Marketing:

o Oversee the development of compelling content that supports brand messaging and addresses various stages of the customer journey.

o Ensure alignment with the company's strategic goals, creating content like white papers, case studies, and webinars that resonate with target audiences.
• Demand Generation:

o Lead demand generation strategies to fuel sales pipeline growth.

o Collaborate with the sales team to develop integrated campaigns that drive customer acquisition and market penetration.
• Market Research & Insights:

o Lead market research initiatives to stay ahead of market trends, customer behavior, and competitive activities.

o Provide actionable insights to inform strategic marketing and product development decisions.
• Events & Trade Show Management:

o Oversee the planning and execution of industry events, trade shows, and conferences, ensuring effective participation that supports lead generation and brand positioning.
• Marketing Operations:

o Lead the marketing operations team to ensure effective use of marketing automation systems, CRM platforms, and operational efficiency.

o Oversee performance tracking and reporting on key metrics and campaign effectiveness.
• Channel Marketing:

o Develop and manage channel marketing programs, working with resellers, distributors, and other partners to optimize indirect sales channels.
• Field Marketing:

o Manage regional field marketing teams to develop localized campaigns that support sales efforts in specific geographic markets.

o Work closely with regional sales leaders to align marketing strategies with local market needs and opportunities.
• Strategic Marketing & Planning:

o Lead long-term strategic marketing initiatives, ensuring the marketing function aligns with the company's overall business objectives and market dynamics.

o Drive portfolio management and business growth initiatives to position the company as an industry leader.
• Pricing & Market Access:

o Develop and refine pricing strategies that support the company's revenue goals while providing value to customers.

o Collaborate with sales and finance teams to ensure alignment of pricing models with market conditions and customer expectations.
• Partner/Collaborator Marketing:

o Coordinate joint marketing initiatives with academic institutions, research bodies, and corporate partners.

o Develop co-branded marketing strategies to strengthen alliances and expand product adoption.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration or a related field is required.

o An MBA or relevant advanced degree is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in marketing leadership roles within life sciences, healthcare, or biotech sectors, with a strong global focus.
• Seven years of management experience.
• Demonstrated experience in driving significant business growth through innovative marketing strategies.
• Experience with brand development, product marketing, content creation, demand generation, and customer engagement programs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Proven track record of building and managing large, complex marketing organizations across multiple regions and functions.
• Deep knowledge of the life sciences tools industry, customer segments, and competitive landscape.
• Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including R&D, sales, product development, and executive leadership.
• Ability to think strategically and translate business objectives into impactful marketing initiatives.
• Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making and performance management.
• Proficiency in digital marketing strategies, marketing automation platforms, CRM tools, and analytics systems.
• Superior leadership skills with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of staff management practices and processes and the ability to establish accountabilities and expectations and manage performance to achieve results.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Results-oriented with a focus on driving performance and accountability.
• A professional presence and strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact in a courteous, timely and diplomatic manner with all levels of staff, as well as other parties/stakeholders.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is performed in a standard office environment, remote or hybrid model.

COMPENSATION SUMMARY

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $215,700. to $388,800. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
