Desjardins' Capital Markets' ("DCM") Investment Banking Group is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vice President to join our Global Mineral Resources & Mining franchise in Toronto.
DCM's integrated capital markets team operates out of Toronto, Montréal, Calgary, and Vancouver and delivers tailored financial solutions to corporations, institutions and government agencies across Canada. This team fosters an entrepreneurial culture in which experienced and highly motivated professionals cooperate to address clients' capital markets needs and corporate objectives.
The successful candidate must demonstrate dedication, leadership, passion for the industry, and a strong work ethic. They are expected to run transactions, assist in managing client relationships, and serve as the bridge between senior direction and junior execution. The role requires strong judgment, sense of ownership, disciplined process and resource management, and the ability to manage deal teams. Vice Presidents are also expected to contribute strategic angles to client pitches, build trusted relationships across the mining ecosystem, and demonstrate the market awareness and commercial instincts required to identify and advance future business opportunities.
More specifically, you will be required to:
• Lead live advisory and capital raising transactions end to end, from pitch through closing
• Oversee the preparation of client materials with the opportunity to craft messaging and direction of the materials
• Participate actively in client meetings and relationship management initiatives, with opportunities to present analysis and recommendations, and develop direct client responsibilities over time.
• Complete and direct transaction analysis and quality control, including financial models, valuation work, due diligence, offering documents and other client deliverables
• Manage team capacity and staffing across concurrent mandates, set priorities and allocate effort to protect quality and meet deadlines
• Provide direction and constructive feedback to Associates and Analysts, and actively mentor and develop junior professionals
• Coordinate with legal, accounting and other advisors, and leverage product, coverage and cross-functional teams across Desjardins Capital Markets
• Maintain strong knowledge of the mining sector and capital markets with the opportunity to contribute to coverage strategy and business development discussions
What you bring to the table:
• Minimum of 5 years of prior work experience in Investment Banking or similar
• Experience executing on advisory and capital raising transactions
• Knowledge and experience in the metals and mining sector is an asset
• Ability to critically evaluate and craft presentation material messaging and manage the creation of client-facing materials
• Ability to manage and meet multiple concurrent deliverables while managing a small team of junior professionals
• Advanced knowledge of valuation techniques and practices, including discounted cash-flow analysis
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or other relevant discipline OR completion of an MBA, CPA or CFA are considered an asset
• Advanced knowledge of technical / computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, FactSet, Argus Enterprise) are considered an asset
