We’re seeking a Vice President to join the Equity Derivatives Middle Office team in New York. This role will combine core Equity Derivatives Middle Office responsibilities with a strong focus on new business enablement, transformation and direct front-to-back support for key integrated firm business lines. The successful candidate will work closely with senior Operations leadership and front-office stakeholders to help shape and execute the operating strategy, solve complex business problems and deliver scalable solutions across the trade lifecycle.
In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is an Advanced Specialist position at Vice President level within Product Support & Services, which is responsible for providing transaction support and managing post execution processes.
What you'll do in the role:
• Support the Equity Derivatives Middle Office in New York across trade support, trade validation, lifecycle management, structured products and post-execution controls.
• Act as an Operations partner to Sales, Trading and other front-office stakeholders, helping resolve complex business and operational challenges.
• Play a key role in new business enablement, assessing front-to-back impacts of new products, client initiatives, market expansion and changes to booking or operating models.
• Provide direct Operations coverage for key integrated firm business lines, coordinating across products and functions to deliver effective front-to-back solutions.
• Contribute to the development of the Equity Derivatives Operations strategy and take ownership for executing agreed priorities within the New York team.
• Help drive the transformation agenda through automation, workflow redesign, data-led improvements and emerging technologies, reducing manual processes and improving scalability and control.
• Partner with Technology and other functions to define requirements, priorities change and deliver sustainable solutions to business and operational challenges.
• Strengthen the risk and control environment across trade capture, lifecycle processing, reconciliations, exception management and supervisory controls.
• Build strong partnerships across Sales, Trading, Strats, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance and Operations to support business growth and effective risk management.
• Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve client and front-office experience and increase operational efficiency across the trade lifecycle.
• Provide clear communication to senior stakeholders on business readiness, operational risks, issues and transformation progress.
What you'll bring to the role:
• Strong experience in equity derivatives, derivatives middle office, trade support, lifecycle management or a related front-to-back operating function.
• Good knowledge of equity derivatives and structured product lifecycles across OTC, exotic, structured, swap or financing products.
• Strong front-to-back understanding and the ability to work effectively across Sales, Trading, Strats, Technology and control functions.
• Experience supporting new products, business initiatives or changes to front-to-back operating models.
• Ability to understand complex business problems, identify operational implications and work across functions to develop practical solutions.
• Strong stakeholder-management skills and the confidence to represent Operations with front-office and senior functional stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience contributing to and executing transformation initiatives through automation, workflow redesign, process improvement, data or emerging technologies.
• Strong risk and control judgement, with an understanding of trade lifecycle risks, exception management and operational controls.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and balance business delivery, risk, control and transformation objectives.
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of delivery.
• A collaborative mindset and willingness to operate beyond traditional product or functional boundaries in support of broader firm priorities.
• Typically 8+ years of relevant financial-services experience, with meaningful experience in derivatives or a related markets operating function.
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $172,500 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
