The Role

The VP, Distribution Center Technology Solutions reports to the Vice President - Enterprise Supply Chain and Application Services leader and is responsible for leading the strategy, design, development, maintenance, governance and evolution of the portfolio of IT services and IT solutions for the technologies in support of our distribution centers. The primary activities are:

  • Understand business process drivers and capabilities (future and current state) and determine corresponding IT strategy to drive the Enterprise targeted business outcomes.


  • Design and lead the implementation and maintenance of a relevant IT services and solutions portfolio based on the business strategies, business capabilities and business requirements.


  • Identify the organizational impact (skills, processes, structures) and financial impact of the IT services and solutions portfolio and develop plans with the corresponding Enterprise leadership teams to manage the impact effectively.


  • Understand technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving capabilities supporting the inbound and outbound logistics process involving warehouse management, warehouse control systems, transportation management systems, DC automation technologies, carrier integration solutions, labor management systems and Serialization technology.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage common DC technology related IT services end to end, including IT operations, solutions and projects portfolio with focus on inbound and outbound business processes in our distribution centers.


  • Develop the overall service strategy, set service and solution priorities, identify initiatives, oversee projects, establish commercial and adoption plans that maximize value for the organizations for the Business Units (BUs).


  • Foster relationships with BU business leaders and BU CIO organizations and enable new sources of value.


  • Understand and proactively manage and optimize the Total Cost of their services. Develop pricing and cost recovery model.


  • Lead the on-going assessment of the technical and business fitness of the IT services and solutions portfolio, their associated costs and risks, and rationalize them to maximize the business contribution.


  • Work with BU CIOs and business stakeholders to define a prioritized set of business outcomes and services work to accomplish those outcomes. Lead the IT services organization's successful delivery of these business outcomes in partnership with the BU CIO organizations and Supply Chain business colleagues.


  • Provide leadership, vision and direction to the IT services organization to ensure it will contribute to the Enterprise achieving its goals.


  • Manage support activities in conjunction with infrastructure and operations to ensure the IT services perform well in production.


  • Work with the chief information security officer (CISO) organization to ensure that the IT services and applications are effectively secured and that risks are mitigated.


  • Manage IT services personnel, developing their skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the clients and users we serve, as well as recruiting capabilities to address new needs and skills gaps.


  • Manage relationships with major IT vendors and service providers to ensure they cost-effectively meet the needs of the organization.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • 15 or more years of experience in IT and business/industry.


  • Preferably seven or more years of experience in large, cross-functional teams influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.


  • Strong experience in outsourced environments that rely on managed service providers.


  • Deep knowledge of SAP ERP (Preferably SAPS/4 HANA).


  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, organization design and development.


  • Supply Chain with at least 10 years of proven experience or demonstrated capability in leveraging IT to transform Supply Chain in large companies, creating tangible and distinctive business value.


Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

Critical Skills

  • Deep knowledge of business processes supporting inbound and outbound logistics and operations for a distribution center preferably in a wholesale distribution and healthcare context.


  • Deep knowledge of technologies for warehouse management, warehouse control systems, automation technologies used in distribution centers, labor management systems, transportation management systems, serialization technologies etc.


  • Warehouse management capabilities, warehouse control and automation technologies used in distribution centers, labor management systems, transportation management systems, serialization technologies and reporting supporting these processes.


  • Understanding of S/4 best practices


  • Deep knowledge of SAPS/4 HANA EWM.


  • The ability to translate business needs into IT service and solution requirements.


  • Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.


  • Strong leadership skills.
