About the Role
You will report to the SVP of Development and advance our development pipeline through successful acquisition of new project opportunities to advancement of Nova's existing project pipeline. You will lead and manage a team of early-career and mid-career professionals. As a leader at Nova, you will model and reinforce a culture of ownership and accountability.
  • Provide internal expertise on regulatory and policy dynamics and changes within the assigned market. Ensure Nova is engaged at an appropriate level with regional trade groups, consultants, and advisors to inform investment decisions on projects.
  • Identify development prospects and advance project development activities, both through individual contributions and by managing a team of internal and external subject matter experts. This role requires that you're comfortable and confident both in the earliest stages of identifying projects with strong market potential to advancing a project to NTP.
  • Cultivate and retain a high-functioning team and provide mentorship to direct reports, including leading the hiring, interviewing and onboarding of new team members.
  • Collaborate with FP&A team to ensure portfolio and project plans are created and maintained, and regularly report on project budgets, schedules, and financial metrics to ensure company leadership has a clear understanding of the project- and portfolio-level risk and status.
  • Lead complex negotiations with external stakeholders when senior leadership is needed.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to work through financial model inputs and ensure. accuracy in project and market-level data
  • Address process and procedure gaps necessary to advance Nova as the team and portfolio grows.

About You

You're an experienced leader, managing people and teams with a track-record of taking utility-scale renewable projects through key milestones. You thrive in a nimble and adaptive business environment.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in project development and project management within renewable energy, leading a utility-scale project through COD preferred
  • You must have mastery of development of at least on utility-scale renewable energy technology with an interest in learning about the other technology types.
  • Commercial understanding and financial acumen, with strong ability to speak to and manage portfolio based on economic drivers or projects
  • Strong understand of US Power Markets, with development experience in MISO, ERCOT and SPP strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to successfully lead negotiations with external stakeholders and maintain relationships
  • Experienced in managing competing priorities, delegating workload, and delivering on project schedules
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver's license
  • Location: Candidates based out of our Chicago, IL or Denver, CO office are highly preferred.
