JOB DESCRIPTION

Join the Data Protection Management and Governance team and help ensure the organization meets data protection policies, standards, and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with key stakeholders, develop solutions, and help shape the future of data protection across the firm. You will partner with business, technology, legal, and compliance teams to design, execute, and oversee data protection initiatives across internal and external data.

As a Vice President in Data Protection Management and Governance, you will partner with business, technology, legal, and compliance teams to design, execute, and oversee data protection initiatives across the firms internal and external data landscape. You will drive project delivery, develop metrics, and support compliance with regulatory requirements, supporting the firms data governance strategy.

Job responsibilities

  • Develop and/or assist in defining project requirements and deliverables by identifying, driving, and participating in project milestones and phases, as well as specific action items related to data protection.
  • Execute on the delivery of key requirements and deliverables.
  • Communicate with senior management to report on the progress of regulatory programs and provide actionable recommendations that support the firms data governance strategy.
  • Develop effective presentations and project updates tailored for senior management.
  • Actively participate and collaborate in workstream meetings and ad hoc working sessions, including driving agendas, preparing meeting minutes, and tracking agreed actions.
  • Utilize Excel and other data analytics tools to analyze data, generate actionable insights, and support robust data protection governance as well as informed business decision-making.
  • Partner with lines of business and corporate functions, technology, legal, and compliance groups to define, develop, and implement data protection and data access solutions.
  • Monitor the details and status of enterprise-wide data protection projects with internal and external data, escalating and resolving any project issues efficiently.
  • Leverage visualization tools such as Qlik or Tableau to visualize data and information and/or Alteryx or similar tools to create workflows.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelors degree with five years of relevant experience in data risk management, data protection, or data access governance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex protection concepts and solutions
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and lookups; experience with Alteryx, Python, or other data integration tools for data analysis and automation
  • Proficient with project management tools and presentation skills, including Word and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in data visualization and reporting tools
  • Experience working in an Agile environment defining product requirements with lines of business and corporate functions and partnering with technology teams to deliver effective solutions
  • Expertise in project management disciplines with the ability to instill structure, process, accountability, and delivery within tight timelines

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills; comfortable working and partnering with people at all levels and across all functional areas (legal, compliance, controls, technology, and lines of business and corporate functions).
  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of protection regulations (for example, GDPR, DOJ Bulk Transfer Rule, CCPA) and data protection and access management frameworks.
  • Strong data analysis, data management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a changing work environment and apply critical thinking to shape program approaches.
  • Understanding of key principles of cyber security, including encryption, network security, and firewalls.
