Full Job Description
We are seeking a highly strategic and organized Chief of Staff to the CEO. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for orchestrating the Office of the CEO and managing a dedicated team within the office. The Chief of Staff ensures executive productivity, strategic alignment, and the seamless execution of company priorities. This position is primarily remote, yet requires a small percentage of time to be spent at our company headquarters in Cambridge, As the Vice President Chief of Staff, you will be responsible for: • Team Management: Lead and mentor a high-performing Office of the CEO team, fostering proactive collaboration and operational excellence. • Strategic Operations: Manage the CEO's dynamic operating calendar to ensure strategic alignment during mission-critical periods (Earnings, Board meetings, key external events). Oversee centralized scheduling for high-profile customer and partner briefings. Track annual Mission Critical Goal (MCG) attainment. • Global Engagement & Executive Travel: Orchestrate the CEO's global engagement strategy, including all aspects of worldwide travel logistics, to ensure frictionless engagement in critical business activities. Optimize executive presence by curating high-impact agendas and pre-briefings for key customer, investor, and M&A opportunities. • Board Governance Support: Collaborate with Akamai's General Counsel to plan and Board of Director agendas, Director requests, and deliverable schedules. Plan and execute quarterly Board sessions (including a mix of on-site and virtual meetings). Deliver high-quality Board Memos, manage agendas for the Operating Committee (OC) and executive staff while driving synchronization on key cross-functional priorities like Cloud, Cyber Security, AI, and Go-to-Market strategies. • Corporate Development: Partner with Corporate Development and Investor Relations to prepare the CEO for critical interactions with bankers and investors. Streamline narratives to prepare quarterly earnings scripts. • Strategic Communications: Align with Marketing and business leaders to deliver a clear Akamai vision. Develop high-impact scripts, presentations, and digital content for internal Town Halls, leadership calls and manage requests for keynote appearances. Orchestrate quarterly All Hands and Leadership calls, technical demos, financial communications, as well as maintain the CEO's external voice on LinkedIn. • AI Innovation & Transformation: Master AI tools to improve output. Identify and implement AI-driven solutions to automate routine tasks (written, graphic, or video content development) and ensure all AI usage aligns with Akamai's brand, security, and ethics guidelines. To be successful in this role you will: • Bring 15+ years of experience managing strategic initiatives and operations with a Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, or equivalent experience. • Have proven managerial experience with a track record of successfully leading and managing a high-performing team. • Be an exceptional communications (written and verbal) and organizational skills, with the ability to produce high-level talk tracks, scripts, and Board memos. • Have extensive experience working in a fast-moving and change oriented high-tech corporation, understanding the key providers and competitors within Akamai's lines of business as well as having knowledge of foundational concepts related to: technical platforms, cloud computing, cybersecurity and AI infrastructure. • Have demonstrated capability to orchestrate complex global travel, executive scheduling, and geopolitical navigation. Compensation Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $210,700 - $379,300/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
