Full Job Description
Vertical Engineering Lead, Technology Lab Services

Role purpose

This leadership position owns the account-based deployment of JLL's Technology Labs operating and assurance standards, translating global frameworks into practical, site-level execution. You will take the O&M playbook, policies, procedures, and JLL Client Assurance Program (JCAP) criteria developed for Technology Labs and drive their consistent adoption across individual accounts, sites, and teams. This role bridges the gap between centralized standards and decentralized execution-closing local gaps, leading change management, and ensuring field teams can demonstrate adherence to published standards in their daily operations.

You will build and lead a team of deployment professionals who manage account-level rollout initiatives, while partnering closely with the Standards & Assurance Lead for Technology Labs to ensure standards remain grounded in real operating conditions and to channel field feedback into future standard revisions.

What this job involves

Standards Deployment & Account-Level Execution You will own the deployment of the Technology Labs standard O&M playbook across accounts, ensuring maintenance and operations in labs, cleanrooms, and critical research environments meet published standards. This includes deploying tech lab-specific documentation, SOPs, guidance materials, and training resources to sites, enabling teams to demonstrate JCAP compliance. You will develop standardized project plans for account and site deployment that align with the standard's requirements while accommodating local organizational structures, roles, and responsibilities.

Gap Assessment & Rollout Management Leading account-level deployment engagements, you will assess current site operating models against the standard, identify gaps, and drive adoption through structured rollout plans. You will support execution of the Technology Labs assurance program (JCAP) at the account level, preparing sites for assurance reviews and ensuring responsiveness to findings.

Field-Standards Partnership & Continuous Improvement Working in close partnership with the Standards & Assurance Lead for Technology Labs, you will ensure standards remain deployable and practical in field conditions. You will provide critical field feedback to inform ongoing standard revisions and lead incident management for lab spaces within deployed accounts-investigating near-misses and incidents, driving root cause analysis, and feeding trends back to inform standards updates.

Team Leadership & Deployment Operations You will build, lead, and develop a team of deployment professionals who manage account-level standards rollout. This includes providing coaching, prioritization guidance, and quality oversight of their work. You will determine deployment prioritization and resourcing across accounts based on risk assessment, account needs, and portfolio priorities.

Financial & Operational Accountability Responsibility for the deployment P&L sits with this role. You will manage deployment resource costs and structures in close collaboration with Account Finance and COE Finance, while evolving financial and operational KPIs and reporting frameworks for the deployment function.

Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management You will engage and maintain working relationships with Data Center & Critical Environment Management engineering subject matter experts, Technology account teams, and divisional leadership to drive consistent standard adoption. Leading training delivery on the playbook, JCAP criteria, and ongoing updates-either directly or through your deployment team-you will own change management execution at the account level, ensuring standards are communicated effectively and embedded in daily site operations.

Technical Leadership & Compliance Coordination Serving as the primary client-facing technical lead for lab space performance and reliability within deployed accounts, you will coordinate with Engineering Operations, Quality & Compliance, and Health, Safety, Security & Environment teams to ensure statutory compliance for technology lab maintenance and equipment testing protocols is executed on site.

Sound like you?

To succeed in this role, you should bring:

Experience Requirements Significant experience spanning 15+ years in critical environment, technology lab, engineering, or operations/deployment leadership. You possess a demonstrated track record of deploying and operationalizing standards or SOPs in field environments, transforming documentation into consistent execution by technicians. Your background includes executing or supporting assurance, audit, compliance, or standards-implementation programs (JCAP or equivalent) at the account or site level, with proven ability to lead standards rollout across multiple accounts while reconciling global standards with local site variations and constraints.

You bring hands-on experience with technology lab environments, environmental controls, or similar critical infrastructure, combined with cross-functional coordination capabilities within large, matrixed organizations. A corporate real estate or engineering operations background is preferred. Experience managing or leading teams of engineers or technicians-including workload prioritization and performance development-is essential, with preference given to candidates who have managed multi-site or multi-account deployment programs.

Core Skills Strong program and project management capabilities define your approach. You are detail-oriented and able to run multi-account deployment cadences with rigor while tracking adoption progress effectively. Collaboration comes naturally to you-you understand this is a deployment and adoption function rather than a standards-authoring role, succeeding by driving consistent field execution in partnership with the Standards & Assurance Lead for Technology Labs.

Your strong technical and engineering understanding of critical environments and lab systems enables clear communication with technical staff, account leads, and clients. As a proactive problem-solver with a continuous-improvement mindset, you bring people leadership skills that enable you to build, coach, and manage a distributed team of deployment professionals.

Behavioral Competencies You think big, simplifying complexity and seeing the big picture across large, dispersed portfolios. Your intellectual curiosity drives change, making you comfortable driving adoption of new standards and capabilities across multiple accounts. You get things done-acting decisively, taking ownership, and seeing deployment through from initial engagement to full adoption. Throughout all activities, you maintain a business-first orientation, keeping client and JLL outcomes in view while balancing deployment priorities across accounts.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience) provides your foundation. Deep technical grounding in critical systems-including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, cleanroom, and life-safety disciplines-is essential, along with experience applying regulatory compliance frameworks and industry standards relevant to technology labs or critical facilities.

Preferred background & traits Professional Engineer (PE) license or Advanced Trades license strengthens your candidacy. Experience in the technology sector, familiarity with Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) frameworks and failure mode analysis, prior experience standing up or scaling multi-account deployment or field-adoption functions from the ground up, and experience managing distributed technical teams across multiple accounts or regions are all highly valued.
