What to Expect

The VPC Quality Supervisor is responsible for all quality inspection and assurance activities at McLaren's Baltimore Vehicle Preparation Center . Reporting to the VPC General Manager, this role ensures that every vehicle meets McLaren's stringent quality standards before shipment, supervises two QC Inspectors, manages defect documentation and warranty claims, and serves as the primary liaison with McLaren's central quality team to drive continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

  • Supervise two QC Inspectors, providing direction and ensuring consistent application of McLaren's quality inspection standards across all vehicles.
  • Manage quality inspection processes against established standards, including QC In inspections upon vehicle arrival and QC Out inspections prior to shipment release.
  • Review and approve all re-work requests, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken before vehicle release.
  • Document all quality defects systematically, maintaining accurate records for analysis and reporting to the VPC General Manager and central quality team.
  • Submit warranty claims for quality-related issues identified at the VPC, coordinating with the Warranty Administrator on claim processing and parts management.
  • Manage workflow of paint and body repair requirements, coordinating with external paint partners and ensuring timely completion to quality standards.
  • Conduct final quality approval before vehicles are released to carriers, confirming all repairs and corrections have been completed satisfactorily.
  • Hold weekly reviews with McLaren's central quality team, presenting defect data, trends, and improvement initiatives.
  • Analyse quality metrics and defect patterns to identify recurring issues and collaborate with factory counterparts on root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Provide quality feedback to the VPC Operations and Technical Supervisors to prevent defects and improve first-time quality.
  • Train and develop QC Inspectors on inspection techniques, quality standards, and documentation requirements
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide regular feedback to direct reports, fostering a culture of quality excellence.
  • Ensure QC Inspectors attend weekly quality meetings and contribute feedback on process improvements.
  • Maintain quality inspection equipment and ensure calibration and functionality of measurement tools.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of QC inspection personnel.


What You'll Bring

  • Strong technical knowledge of automotive quality standards, inspection methodologies, and defect classification.
  • Proven experience in quality assurance or quality control within automotive manufacturing, dealerships, or vehicle processing environments.
  • Experience with paint and body quality assessment, understanding of finish standards and common defects.
  • Familiarity with warranty claim processes and documentation requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to identify trends and drive data-based improvements.
  • Experience supervising quality inspection personnel with demonstrated ability to maintain consistent standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Valid driver's licence with ability to operate high-performance vehicles safely for inspection purposes.
